Despicable

Dirty room, stained sheets, stained comforter, broken toilet (bowl placed on the floor), faulty faucet, dirty shower.
Stinking towels.
What can be said about this hotel except that it must be avoided at all costs; you will lose your money.
No elevator.
Unhygienic, flee as far away as possible; it is absurd and impossible to give a positive review of this place that could not be open in a country where strict rules are applied for the reception of travelers.

Good location, noisy room

The hotel is situated on the edge of the Casbah- it’s about a 20 minute walk in the opposite direction to the Main Street with restaurants etc. I had a room which had a double bed, small but ok for one person. The bathroom was tiny, basically a shower room with sink and toilet but water was hot and pressure good. It seemed clean enough if a little rough round the edges, although I’m not sure how often the thick blanket on the bed would be changed as it had a few marks on it. My room faced the road (I think any room ending 01,02,03 face that way). It had shutters and a small balcony but was quite noisy. I always travel with ear plugs and they were needed here. I stayed 3 nights and asked if I could move to a room at the back. The answer was always ‘maybe tomorrow.’ I had the same room the whole time! The roof top terrace is a great feature here but it’s a steep climb up to the 7th floor. Well worth it for the views and to listen to the call to prayer. Breakfast was included in the price- not great, hard croissants, machine coffee and an assortment of cakes. The area around the hotel felt safe to me at night, but I am used to travelling in the developing world. It may be more of a shock for a first time visitor from Europe or USA. In summary, it’s not luxury but was ok for the price paid.

The hotel is very well located on the edge of the casbah and has lots of charm. We found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We stayed twice (first for 3 nights and then for our last night in Algeria) and would totally recommend this accommodation for budget travellers who want to be in the very centre of the city centre. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was self-service and fine.

Scam for money and awful service

The hotel is running a scam scheme when they pretend they "couldn't charge your card" and demand more than twice over in price! I was due 8500 and they cited 18000 D and when I refused they provided a sketchy link which I had to pay "like a Paypal" but I am sure it was a scam as it didn't show on Booking as payment!
5th floor without elevator, no help from staff, the room was dilapidated and leaking during the rain, awful breakfast consisting of a stale croissant with butter and jam, and on the second morning butter finished before 8 am. It might seem minor, but during the Ramadan when food options in town are restricted, I was really counting on the hotel breakfast! They refused to call me a taxi to take me to dinner under terrestrial rain, didn't have an umbrella either, so I had to run for my life searching for a place to have my one allowed meal for the day.
One of the worst hotels in my 80 visited countries, AVOID at all cost!
