Great time
We really enjoyed our stay here. The siting of the hotel was good, close to transport and museums etc. Staff were pleasamt and helpful especially Jay whoserved us at lunch and breakfast. And speaking of breakfast, this was the best hotel breakfast we have had anywhere. The hot foods were hot and not just left sittring in bain maries for ages, and wer really flavoursome.

The gym did it for me!
A great stay at the Playford.
Attended a work function and was very impressed. Beautiful room, and a new fancy gym that I really enjoyed! Finally a hotel where the gym space can accommodate more than 5 guests!
Great location, good service. Would definitely stay again.

annual function
a year later and the Playford has maintained and improved, room and in room amenties superb. front desk service was outstanding special mention to reece for his effort and assistance in resolution of a third party delivery problem. Luma resturant and bar is welcoming space and dining is a pleasure simple menu featuring seasonal and local produce good food and drinks enhanced by excellent service lead by sheldon one the best maitre'd's in adelaide

Clean and comfortable
The Playford is an excellent hotel - we had a lovely room, large bathroom and sitting area with desk and comfortable bed. Good TV. Guest laundry. Excellent choice breakfast. Lovely staff.

Leaves a lot to be desired
Where to start...
I was travelling to Adelaide for work purposes. When looking at accommodation options, I noted Adelaide pricing was increased- I assume due to conferences, as I saw plenty if people with lanyards. I found a nightly rate at The Playford on a third-party website that was cheaper that what my Accor Membership was offering. I called the Membership number and asked if they would price match- but they told me they wouldn't- unless it was 24 hours before I was due to check in. Since it was 3 days prior, I told them I'd book through the third-party website for the cheaper rate. I requested a room on the upper floors, facing north if possible.
Upon checking in at approx. 5:30pm after a full day travelling. The name on the booking had not changed to me (remained my husbands name- no fault of the hotel- but of the third-party site). I explained this to the man checking me in and showed ID to confirm. I also explained the issues I had when trying to book directly using my Accor membership. He advised "never call reservations- call the hotel directly". Ok noted. However, still no acknowledgement of my Accor membership.
I was placed in a room on the first floor (109), facing a building. In my 3 days there, I had zero sunlight in the room, and had to have the lights on at all times, not to mention the street noise, which wasn't conducive to working of an afternoon when I had finished with clients, or sleeping when there is garbage trucks right outside emptying large industrial bins.
On top of this, given being on the bottom floor and another huge building next to me- my phone was lucky to have 1 bar of reception. I had to connect to the hotel wifi on both my phone, and my laptop, however it was extremely slow, and again, not great for working. I informed them of this when calling about the room service menu. No resolution.
One afternoon I thought a glass of wine may be nice whilst I finish some work. The mini bar was fully stocked, but I the QR I was given to look up the prices of the items would take me directly to a room service booking- and not show me anything to do with the mini bar- despite the title on the QR code. I called reception and they printed a price list off and delivered to the room.
The TV in the room was Foxtel enabled- but several times during my stay in the middle of watching something, the Foxtel would drop out- and once it reset- it would take me back to the hotel screen where I had to scroll to the TV option and try and find what I was watching- only for it to drop out again 10 mins later. Maybe it was the poor internet connection?
The hotel bar happy hour. I ordered a schooner (which I was quickly corrected by the barman in South Australia is called a pint- but is only NSW schooner size). 30% off for happy hour- it was still $11.20 for a Hahn Superdry. I nearly fell off my chair. Theres a pub next door- drinks are cheaper there.
The only positive I can say is the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the bathroom was large. Lighting unfortunately in the large bathroom and the room itself wasn't good for applying make-up before work each day, which unfortunately I had to rely on given no natural sunlight in this room.
