True to its name - Castaways!
Castaways is the perfect island getaway and an ideal base for exploring Moreton Island. The team was fantastic—prompt with pre-booking queries, smooth check-in and briefing, always helpful & easygoing.
We stayed at Glamping Site 7, conveniently close to the amenities. The spacious shared kitchen includes two large BBQ kettles, fridge space, gas burners, and cutlery—just bring your meal prep and you’re set.
Our glamping tent easily accommodated wife myself & our daughter, with a double bed, two bunks, a good-sized bathroom, and ample storage. Being off-grid, it included ceiling fans and lighting.
There’s also a well-stocked café and shop offering meals and meal kits if needed.
Yes, a holiday on this island isn’t cheap if you add up the 4WD hire, island driving permit, accomodation & ferry return fare + food activities —but it’s a tropical paradise just 90 minutes by ferry from Brisbane port, with stunning beaches perfect for snorkelling, fishing, and water sports—easily rivalling trips to Fiji, Samoa, or Tonga!!
An important Tip..
**you need to hire or own a professional 4WD vehicle with all Terrain tyres while on the island, unless you want to pay for all your transport from ferry to the resort & all trips to the activities while you are there

Had a very relaxing stay. Room was spotless and had everything you needed. Staff was very friendly, shop/cafe had everything you needed as well. Beach was a short walk and absolutely beautiful. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Would definitely recommend for anyone staying on Moreton. 2 bedroom unit was spacious and comfortable. Only recommendation is to stow the pool table balls each night by 9:00 pm- despite the signs to not use the pool tables before 8:00 am, a group of children served as our alarm clock before 7:00 am every morning since the table was right outside our bedroom.

Do not bother
The ice machine did not work without a token from the shop, there needs to be a sign advising people of this. Needing ice when the shop is closed is not ideal!
Due to ferry times & booked transfer by Castaways, we arrived at 10.30am and even though our room was vacant & cleaned, we were made to wait until the 2pm booking in time.
We watched the cleaner finish at 11am.
We were made to leave by 8.30am instead of the 10am vacate time claiming tide times to get to ferry departure, only to see the same vehicle return to pick up guests from the incoming ferry.
Our ferry was not leaving until 3pm, so had to sit on beach all day with our luggage!
No point staying at Castaways without a vehicle, they charge an extra 75 return transfer fee each person.
The power is turned off at around midnight so you no longer have the luxury of the ceiling fan.
No hot water as gas stopped working, owners offsite had to wait for a worker to return to work to fix.

Who wouldn't be Castawayed here
What a wonderful experience, this was a gift from our daughter and son-in-law. Note being a 4WD driver or owner we were treated to this magnificent trip. Travelling all over Moreton Island from North to South, East to West and staying at Castaways Glamping Cabins, so comfortable and well laid out. Very basic rooms and bathrooms in an upmarket tent with small Verandah. Communal kitchen with adequate facilities for all guests with plenty of fridge space and cooking facilities and utensils. Great little store selling souvenirs, drinks and groceries, plus a great lunch menu and coffees/drinks etc. Such friendly staff who were so helpful. Great layout of resort and a short distance to the beach where we watched magnificent sunsets and were luck enough to spot whales breaching and fin slapping - a new experience ticked off the 'bucket list'
