Disappointing stay

Disappointed with our stay here.
Not worth the money as a BiG 4. Stayed in the lower part of the campground … ok but very hot and exposed. Camp kitchens are very basic. Fridges are dirty. Bottom fridge has no freezer and the top camp kitchen freezer was not working! No washing liquid provided. Take earplugs if staying there on a Saturday night as the roar of the Speedway cars will keep you awake on a a Saturday Night. And it is on the airport flight path! There is a pool and a basic playground but not great for kids. On a positive note good access to the city.

Appalling !

Stayed in Family Villa for one night of 6 booked nights last week. Booked in advance, read some mixed reviews, however decided would be ok due to price. Easy late night check-in with sister and father.
Unit smelt dirty/musty. Website showed 1 lge and 2 single beds (partly why we choose this). Unit has 2 lge beds - no option to alter in middle of night.
Floor sticky, fan blades in all rooms had excessive dust, no dish cloth or detergent, only 1/4 bottle of dettol handwash under kitchen bench. Glasses in cupboard all grubby. Tea towel covered in black stains.
Blood on wall in living area, live cockroach in kitchen. Layer of ice in bottom of freezer stained with unknown black substance and rust.
Informed office staff room not suitable and why. Initially appeared surprised - despite similar review for what appears to be the same room recently. Did offer alternative room but would not let us view until after 1 & 1/2 hrs cleaning (at 1 pm)
Our request to see this room at the time declined. Housekeeping supplied dishcloth/detergent and cleaned blood from wall.
Manager very dismissive throughout, kept walking away while we were speaking. Went to unit when elderly father was alone in it, said he couldn't see any problem, stated he would call when room ready - and did not.
Had commenced looking for alternative accommodation and left park to pursue this.
Hugely stressful and negative experience.

Crap

The photos are of the old area we were in the dust bowl at the back the park manager insisted on cutting grass that was no existing and spewing dust everywhere over cars and vans the guy was rude and abusive and blamed the condition of the pool in his word it’s your fault for putting bug spay and make on. I suggest do not go there.

Terrible management

Worst park I’ve ever stayed at horrible uneven sites no grass tiny sites we were put on a 6m site with a 9m van then told to move 3 hours after we got there we were hanging out over the road so we left couldn’t talk to a manager now they refuse to give us a refund due to their mistake we’re on holiday and now out of pocket
Worst caravan park in Darwin moved to Aspen beautiful green site pleasant staff and gave me complimentary drink vouchers for my bad experience at Big 4 that they had nothing to do with go figure !!!

Probably Look Elsewhere

Having stayed at numerous caravans parks from Perth to Darwin, Big 4 Hidden Valley was certainly the most disappointing. The place has several hits including a very large number of manicured grass sites and clean modern amenities which management work hard to maintain which is a credit to them. There is also a great pool and cafe on site. Unfortunately here are the misses. Travelling with friends we booked two sites seven months in advance asking to be situated together. Our friends were placed on one of the excellent grass sites and we on a rough grass/dirt site at absolute extremity in the park. Upon requesting a different site closer to the amenities and asking if they “weave a bit of magic” on their system, we were moved to another extremity all be it a little closer. Frustratingly we observed many vacant grass sites during our stay close to our friends and the amenities. In the main caravan area there are close to 200 sites but only four toilets and showers. Queuing up for toilets and showers is a regular occurrence. On odd occasions toilets ran out of toilet paper. The lack of hot water in hand basins to wash your hands afterwards toileting is unhygienic. There was also only two working washing machines and two broken again causing people to line up their washing and wait. A further frustration is the refusal of management to accept parcels on behalf of guests. Our friends were expecting a parcel and were forced to track it around Darwin because of this policy. This is the first I’ve heard of such a policy in a caravan park having previously collected a parcel containing a broken door part at a park in Broome. In summary what could’ve been a fantastic stay ended up very disappointing.
