Central location with opportunity to see Spirit of Tasmania

We stayed in a superior twin ocean view room and was able to see the Spirit of Tasmania come into port. The hotel is located centrally, and cheap carparking close, which the hotel guest services was happy to arrange. The TV is large, bar fridge is small, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a good size.

Clean modern hotel in good location

The location can’t be any better. The hotel right on the oceanfront and 100 m from the city heart. We got the best room on the top floor, and we could see large ships passing by. The room was spotless.
The Malaysian restaurant onsite is good. It has Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Philippine food. The breakfast was quite poor with limited selection.
The reception staff were very helpful. On their recommendation, we visited the beach where fairy penguins come for nesting and an arboretum where we could see platypus.
The valet parking for $25 was convenient. There is $10 council parking nearby.

Thank you very much for sharing such a detailed review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our unbeatable location right on the waterfront and close to the city centre. It’s wonderful to know that you loved your top‑floor room and the unique experience of watching the ships pass by, as well as the cleanliness and comfort during your stay.
We’re also pleased that you enjoyed our South East Asian restaurant and found the variety of dishes to your liking. At the same time, we appreciate your comments regarding breakfast. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll continue to review our selection to ensure it better meets guest expectations.
It’s great to hear that our reception team were helpful with their local recommendations — the fairy penguin viewing and the arboretum are truly special experiences in Devonport, and we’re glad you enjoyed them. We’re also pleased that valet parking worked well for you and that nearby council parking added convenient flexibility.
Thank you again for staying with us. We hope to welcome you back to Devonport for another memorable stay.
Warm regards,
Emmily Stafford

This time we stayed and it wasn’t great.
They know 3 of us stay in room and each day cleaner only put 2 towels. We had to approach front receptionist to request more towels.
On 3rd day - cleaners forgot to come and clean our room. We had to approach receptionist to get it cleaned. They did clean it but still 2 towels so we looked at cleaner and said it’s 3 of us so she added one more towel.
They did not check shampoo and shower gel bottles - they ran out and we let receptionist know. They did not restock it until we departed.
Hotel room has strong smell through air vent from Asian restaurant in ground floor inside Novotel. They will need to build stronger air vent to avoid smell going up to rooms. It happens during evening time. This is not first time. It happened with earlier stay too.
Lovely building and centrally located in Devonport town. Accessible to bus and shops.
