Good range of facilities for families.
Generally good condition although some wear and tear in areas like the bathroom.
There are additional costs for certain things (kangaroo tour) but most things are included in the price.

Relaxing stay, great staff.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a relaxed stay at Rydges.
An unfortunate incident occurred on our first night - a raucous gathering/party that continued till 1 am when staff finally put a stop to it after we had let them know a couple of times earlier - made for a very unpleasant night.
When we let staff know the next day that we could no longer stay in the room with the same guests next door they did not hesitate to relocate us to a better, upgraded villa.
After our first night’s disappointment we were more than satisfied with the lovely Jan’s handling of the situation, including providing a partial refund.
We would definitely recommend the resort for an easy, relaxing holiday. Breakfast is fabulous and we enjoyed the nearby walking trails and the easy access to the golf course.

Not many places can accommodate 6 adults in one room/villa. This is what makes this property unique. The grounds always look amazing and the breakfast is simply the best. Check in and check out was the easiest I’ve seen at a hotel.
Very central to the Hunter Valley and known to all operators in the area.

What’s happened to Rydges??

Our family of 4 (2 kids under 6) stayed in a 1 bedroom villa for 2 nights on a thursday/Friday. At check in there was no explanation of location of facilities within the resort-just given. a map with our room circled. Villa was fine but looking very tired-bathroom door handle was loose/broken, bedroom door wouldn’t close properly. Shower gel was empty and towels were cleaned but had old stains. At 630 I called reception x3 to ask for new towels/soap and also to book into breakfast at the cheaper rate and no one answered or called back.
The next morning I brought the issues up to front desk staff who apologised and said at 9am housekeeping would rectify the issues. Housekeeping brought towels but no soap ever came. We then had a handyman in and out 2 times during the day to ‘fix the doors’-not an ideal experience when we are trying to relax and put a toddler down for a nap. The bedroom door was never fixed.
On the second night at 6pm I again called 3 times to order room service-It took 30 minutes for reception to eventually answer.
Good things: Breakfast at gather and the pool/water slide.
Overall, I’m quite baffled by the whole experience. A 24/7 reception that doesn’t answer phones, housekeeping that doesn’t rectify simple issues promptly and guests having to liaise with handyman on a 2 day getaway without any kind of compensation-if your rooms aren’t fit for guests, don’t charge people top dollar to stay in them.

At the end of the day hotels are about one thing……

Great location, easy to get to, beautiful surroundings very big hotel….conference venue too….its good spot especially with a family
But…..what’s the most important thing a hotel can provide? A comfortable bed!!
Sadly it wasn’t the case. You could feel the outline of the previous thousand occupants, it had basically collapsed.
Nice spot, good bar and breakfast, just not a stack of sleep between the dodgy bed and vibrating air con

Hi Don2156,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the location, surroundings, bar, and breakfast, and that the resort suited a family stay. We’re sorry to hear the bed comfort and air‑conditioning impacted your sleep - this certainly isn’t the experience we want for our guests. Your comments have been shared with the team as we continue reviewing room comfort and maintenance. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope there’s an opportunity to welcome you back for a more restful stay in the future.
Regards,
Jackson
