Would stay again any time.
We stayed 2 nights in a deluxe room. We arrived quite early and they couldn't let us into our room (we did not expect that we were going to get in early) as the carpets had just been steam cleaned. I thought it was great that they are keeping the place clean. They even swapped our room with the unit next door and the carpets had dried quicker from the steam cleaning. We were on the ground floor. I imagine there would be great views from the 2nd-floor units but we chose the ground. The area feels really safe.
The place has a really nice atmosphere, and at night it's just really pretty. We could get to the pub from the front door of the room.
The units appear in different blocks and although these buildings are old, they have done an extraordinary job renovating the units and some units are still under renovation. We parked behind the unit and there is an entry from the back, but also a door out the front, which goes to a lawn area, a view of the pool and you get some comfy chairs to sit outside. Absolutely beautifully done, this place.
The rooms were extremely clean. The bedroom was large and the bed was excellent.
The kitchen is set up nicely with a microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and tea and coffee etc
There is a sofa, a table, two chairs, a wardrobe and a massive space for bags. We had a slight issue with the moisture in the bathroom, as it was slippery when it was moist. We didn't mention this to the owners and nothing a bath mat didn't fix. The bathroom sink is outside the bathroom, unusual but not an issue and again these are older units.
Wifi was great.
Walking distance to everything in this town and it's an amazing little town. Just beautiful.
Service here was super friendly, kind and attentive.
Smokers - can smoke outside (shut your door).

Don’t stay if you value sleep.
Mallacoota Hotel Motel advertises itself as a live music venue. It would be more appropriate to call it a live showering venue; I could almost hear the person next door drying themselves.
Room was very small and shabby, alleged “ recent refurbishments” not withstanding.
The hand basin was outside the minuscule bathroom and doubled as a kitchen sink.
The curtains were woeful, fly screens shredded and the louvred windows would not close. Neither would the ordinary windows.
All in all this “hotel” misrepresents itself as more upscale than it could even dream to be and charges accordingly.
The pipes from other rooms howl like banshees regularly and the smoke detector goes off randomly.
Spoke to the manager whose main comment was “it’s a 100 year old pub”.
Adequate (I was going to say) but unpleasant and overpriced. As the evening wore on I revised my comment to woeful.

Really enjoyable stay.
We spent one night here on our southern road trip. It’s a 23 kilometre drive from the highway but such a lovely town. The hotel itself is part of a pub and is bigger than it looks. The rooms are spacious, clean and come with all of the provisions. There is even complementary breakfast packs. Pretty good value and quiet too considering our room was pretty close to the beer garden. The service from the staff is impeccable too.

After a long drive, we had a wonderful welcome when booking into this hotel motel. We were delighted with the complimentary breakfast boxes, as we had another long journey the next day. We hit on a 'parma & pot' night and the dining/bar area was full of locals and a great atmosphere.

Poor experience
Booked 2 nights in what was described as a “deluxe” and supposedly newly renovated room in an advertised 3 star property. It was overpriced, overrated and unsafe. We left after one night. Main issue was the dangerous slippery shower floor which we politely reported to the owner and sought a room change. He responded in an aggressive and confrontational manner that "it is not slippery". Room was in urgent need of modernisation and major renovations with paint peeling and stained carpet. There was no ventilation in the shower/toilet room (no full ensuite bathroom) with the only window frozen closed. Paving outside the unit and path to the bistro was broken and dangerous. Owners only response to all issues raised was an abrupt "it is a 3 star hotel, next". We were told firmly that if we left we would not be refunded the $275 room charge, which we were happy to forego. Before booking we should have read the other unfavourable reviews about this place and its owner's attitude.
