Incredible stay yet again!

We recently celebrated our anniversary at 1 Hotel, and once again the experience exceeded our expectations. What continues to set this hotel apart isn't just the beautiful property, but the genuine care shown by the team.
A special thank you to Yanyan, who arranged a thoughtful anniversary surprise for us. The handwritten card and chocolates waiting in our room were such a lovely touch. It may seem like a small gesture, but it made us feel incredibly welcomed and valued. It felt personal and sincere. The attention to detail, the effort put into making our stay memorable, and the genuine hospitality are the reasons we keep coming back.

Wonderful family stay – thank you, Sam!

We had a lovely overnight stay at 1 Hotel Melbourne last weekend.

Best hotel close to Melbourne convention center

10/10 for staffing, facility and service! Will definitely come back again next time in Melbourne. Stayed for two nights with early check in and late check out. With heated in door swimming pool and sauna, our experience was lifted to another level! Close to convention center (across the bridge), 2 minutes to free trams, convenient to everything in Melbourne city.

Points of Difference

This was a two night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were promised a room on the ninth floor overlooking the river when we called to see when we could check in. When we arrived we were instead allocated a room on the 8th floor overlooking apartment buildings (see photo). The room was very well appointed and very comfortable. Aside from the disappointment about the room, the only complaint we had was that the Chrome-cast (the only option for TV viewing aside from the ‘free to air’ channels) simply didn’t work. Despite persisting with rebooting all the devices, including the TV, and having the lovely man from maintenance try to fix the issues, it simply wouldn’t work properly. You would think that these days things like this wouldn’t be an issue, especially in an expensive hotel. We had downloaded movies, photo’s and video’s to watch and reminisce about during our stay, but sadly that little joy was not possible.
The meals were in the restaurant were okay, very expensive and not really that impressive. My lamb “saddle” consisted of one slice of far too rare meat with the fat being raw, which was quite unpleasant. The waiter was very polite but not particularly competent. Bread and butter side plates go on the left side of the dinner and not the right, and you don’t win anyone over by bumping the glassware out of the way to lay them down!
The breakfast was unremarkable for such a hotel, possible among the worst I’ve had anywhere in the world. The staff were very friendly, however I counted ten tables nearby with the crockery, cutlery and the remnants of various meals sitting on the unoccupied tables. They were not removed for around twenty minutes. That’s not particularly conducive to a pleasant dining experience.
All in all I think we will go back to other hotels at the top end of Collins Street in future.
