Excellent location but needs better soundproofing
Excellent location in the CBD near Southern Cross station, tram stops and Skybus, Woolworths and 7-Eleven just across the road and the bigger Coles supermarket near the station. There are a number of restaurants nearby, Indian restaurant next door, Nandos, and rare steakhouse 300m away.
The continental breakfast was ok, with coffee machine, fruit juices, toast, pastries, cereals, melons, peaches, yogurt, I particularly liked the pancake machine. You can have a cooked breakfast by paying extra. There is also a gym and laundry room but I didn’t use. My room was spacious with a safe, fridge, AC, tea/coffee, iron. I would have preferred if the shower had a hand held head rather than a fixed one.
The only issue I had is that the room was not soundproof, the walls are very thin I could hear the guests talking in the next room, talking in the corridors, I was on the second floor and I could hear the noise from the pub downstairs even with the window fully shut.

Location gives this hotel a big tick!
Great location near Southern Cross station, CBD and trams. Reception staff excellent. Unfortunately this hotel is in need of upgrade. 2-3 star at best IMO. Carpets in hallways need a clean, room was very small with minimal space between end of bed and entrance to bathroom, room not serviced on first day and second day was missing upper sheet just doona (which was covered with upper sheet). Breakfast basic ... cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, very mass produced scrambled eggs, tomato and mushrooms. Coffee machine available.

Basic room. Comfortable enough. Central location. We requested a very quiet room to sleep after a 32 hour journey. Our request was listened to. We had a very quiet room at the back of the hotel. Would recommend this for travellers who need rest - away from traffic noise of busy King Street.

Water pressure in the shower is rubbish, other than that, great hote. Staff were very friendly & helpful, room & hotel were clean.

I have stayed at the Ibis Kingsgate several times, I love the location, a quick 5 minute walk from Southern Cross. So easy! The room was clean and comfy. We only had a very quick stop over, so didn't use any amenities.We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade at no extra cost.
It was very much appreciated. I will definitely stay another time. 😊
