My new Melbourne hotel of choice
This was my second stay at Lanson Place my first was just after they first opened, for this trip I had originally booked elsewhere however a few weeks out from my trip I recalled my previous stay at Lanson Place and changed my booking - it was the best decision I could have made.
The staff are exceptional nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly and make you feel completely at home.
The rooms and amenities are beautifully appointed and spotless, an added bonus being able to open the window to circulate some air!
The dining experience also does not disappoint.
All in all a wonderful place to stay for a winter break in Melbourne. I will definitely be back.

Deceptive Luxury: Service, Views, and Room Quality Are Strictly 3-Star
I booked Lanson Place Parliament Gardens for my sister’s birthday trip, expecting the 5-star luxury experience they market. Unfortunately, the room quality, views, and service fell entirely short of luxury standards, leading us to cut our stay short after a series of failed room moves.
Substandard Room Quality & Design: The room layout and privacy standards are completely unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. Our initial Two-Queen room featured see-through glass bathroom walls, which is entirely impractical for traveling friends or family. To resolve this, we paid to upgrade to a One-Bedroom King.
Compromised Views & Zero Privacy: The views from our upgraded rooms were a massive disappointment. The bathroom featured a full-length window directly facing an active office building. The privacy curtain had a massive gap, exposing the toilet and shower to the office workers opposite.
Misleading & Poor Service Recovery: Desperate for basic privacy, we proactively offered to pay for yet another upgrade. Management confidently assured us that moving to a higher-floor One-Bedroom King would clear the office building entirely. This service failure was twofold: the view was still completely blocked by the offices, the curtain gap was even larger, and we had to hang bathrobes to block the windows.
Deficient Room Maintenance & Noise: To make matters worse, management relocated us directly to the side of the building where active construction was occurring. That night, the room heating failed completely on a 7°C Melbourne night. By 6:30 AM Monday, we woke up freezing, exhausted, and subjected to deafening construction noise right outside our window.
Low-Quality Amenities: The continental breakfast lacked any 5-star standard, featuring low-quality food choices and self-serve vending machine coffee. When we attempted to check out early due to these conditions, management refused Expedia’s cancellation and refund request. We chose to leave at a financial loss and have initiated a credit card dispute.
Verdict: This property does not deliver 5-star service, views, or room quality. Unless you explicitly need to be near the hospital, avoid it. Save yourself the frustration and book at The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne instead—the quality and service are incomparable

Very nice overnight stay , very convenient, minutes from trams, trains and the CBD.
Room was clean , bed very comfortable if maybe firm for some but I loved it.
Room quiet overnight, no “city” noise heard at all.
Reception staff very good. Pool and spa good.

We love the hotel
Super well located, able to make the main points of Melbourne walking.
It has a very nice and nice restaurant/bar, with great food.
The staff were very kind and helpful.
The room was great. The architect was very smart able to leave a space not so large extremely functional. With spaces for a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The room has everything needed and a little more. Washing and drying machine, stove, fridge, heater.
The view of the city is beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Great acoustic insulation as well.
If I return to Melbourne, I will definitely stay again. Great cost-benefit.

Melbourne's Best Kept Secret
Lanson Place is our new place to stay in Melbourne. Fabulous location, with the city at your front door but not in your face. Beautiful parks nearby and so peaceful. Facilities are excellent for a hotel of its size, and it has a serenity about it. Finally, and most importantly staff make Lanson Place, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always smiling.
