A great place for an extended stay.

Great location close to shops and transport. Inviting atmosphere. Helpful staff at reception who will bring in your luggage, escort you to your room , explain all of the amenities including the TV which can be a tricky. Nothing is too much trouble. Extra cutlery and crockery were provided and dishwashing detergent was supplied. Rooms are clean and bright. Well looked after. Has many amenities on the property including a pool and laundry facilities for long term stays. Long term stays have apartments serviced weekly but tea bags, coffee pods can be replenished on request and without fuss. Our 1 bedroom apartment had a good sized bedroom, ensuite with large shower, good comfortable living room with a serviceable kitchen. Unfortunately it did not have a full sized fridge - a small complaint in the scheme of things. We worked round it as we could easily purchased daily from Woolworths supermarket a short walk away. Parking is available for a fee. As we stayed 18 nights we got an excellent deal. Plenty to do in Chapel St. with plenty of public transport in many directions to and from the city by tram or train. Highly recommend.

A really disappointing experience

Disappointing stay due to poor communication, poor housekeeping and maintenance.
To keep it simple I shall list the issues:
1) pre ordered cheese platter was not delivered to the room and required follow up.
2) previous guests half drunk wine was still in the bar fridge. Doesn't housekeeping check these things?
3) maintenance on the hotel water pipes somewhere meant that dirty water came out of bathroom taps despite us trying to run it through. No one from the hotel advised us of the plumbing work being done or came to check on the water quality. This meant we had to use water from the mini bar for teeth brushing. Reception was told about this issue but I was still charged $8 for the water which required further follow up on my part to get the charge reversed.
4) I was charged for the 'complimentary' welcome bottle of wine (which also needed follow up for reversal). There's no hotel bar which is not a big deal but staff should manage the beverage service better. It's obvious that staff don't write notes on the guest profile so that other staff know what is going on with the guest.
5) Housekeeping in the room needs improvement as one bedside light not working, or tested by staff. The balcony door hadn't been cleaned in ages. The balcony floor drain was blocked and flooded. The bathroom exhaust fan was full of dust and fluffy. Obviously not cleaned in weeks. Stains on the sofa.
6) Plants in the outdoor garden next to the room were half dead. Obviously not watered or maintained.
Overall a really disappointing stay with a less than 5 star experience.

Great location and big rooms. Property starting to look old. Shower was fantastic though. Close to train and all the best restaurants and cafes.

Relaxing Mini Break

I loved the deep spa in the bathroom, the fluffy bathrobes, the Nespresso machine and the beautiful heated indoor pool.

A basic but very adequate hotel. No bar and no restaurant (except for breakfast) but honestly you don’t need those when in this area - there are so many eateries and drinking establishments in the vicinity. The rooms are very large and spacious with good showers - absolutely fine hotel in a great location. Not luxury but very comfortable- would stay again.
