A lovely 2 week stay in Melbourne

My husband & I stayed at the Tyrian Apartments Albert Park Lake for 2 weeks in February. A great location, near Albert Park and close to the tram stop going into the city. The Rooftop terrace overlooks Albert Park with great views and has a lovely outdoor pool. There’s also a café on site. The reception staff were very helpful. A special mention to one staff member Joel. He was exceptionally helpful, friendly and approachable. We had a wonderful stay here and hope to return next year.

Coulda been better, Coulda been worse.

The Tyrian was in a good location for us and on paper is very well equipped, but in practice, some things need improvement. First off, the bathroom has a ridiculous sink. It is short from back to front so that you splash everywhere when washing your face or shaving. The taps are hidden below a shelf so you need to either fumble blind or get down below the shelf to see them. The hand towel is inconveniently located across the bathroom and should be either on the side (move the soap dispenser above the sink) or hanging below the sink. The closets are ample, with drawers, hanging space, a safe. But the setup of two doors flanking a set of drawers is such that precision alignment is required in order to use the drawers. We appreciated the balcony, and especially the in suite laundry, and crucially, the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff was pleasant but could not answer any of our questions about amenities in the neighborhood. Finally, although we liked the location, it was quite noisy…too much to keep the windows open.

I have stayed at this property before and was overall very pleased. This time, however, I was offered a room on the first floor, right in top of the highway going under the window of the room.
The hallway was smelly, and the room was noisy. Could not stay there so asked for a different room. I was sent to a room facing the back of the building - but it was also facing the apartement next door. I could see how well they made their bed and they could see straight into my room. Zero privacy. No privacy curtness, just blackout ones, so I had to choose - light, quiet, fresh air or privacy. Could only have one...
We had to leave the hotel since they had no other rooms for us. Of course we did not receive a refund. This used to be my "go to" hotel in Melbourne, but never again.

Our stay was terrific! We redeemed a free Hotels night and got upgraded from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom apartment. It was so spacious and great layout. Very clean, loved the Kevin Murphy products and the lounge area. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay. Staff very friendly, apartment was cleaned daily, the building was spotless and we loved the little coffee shop. We went for breakfast every morning.
Pool area was beautiful and the views across Albert Park were spectacular.
If you’re a sun lover, there’s not enough sun beds for the amount of people staying. We
didn’t let it bother us though.
Had a great time.
