This has been my choice for regular stopovers driving on long trips North of Sydney. Perfect location and easy to navigate to and from. Staff have always been so friendly and helpful and quick to answer questions about local dining options or shopping nearby. Already looking forward to my next stay to break the journey and enjoy some Newcastle hospitality.

Best option for Newcastle

A great location and value for money. I had my bags lost in transit so needed a place to stay closer to the shopping malls to grab new items. The Mercure was an excellent choice cause it was just closer to the shopping mall, which was 5 minutes walking distance. I didn't have to grab an Uber. Facilities were well kept, staff are very friendly and are happy to assist. There's a self checkin and checkout register which you can use when you come in after normal operating hours. Rooms are very spacious, fully kitted with basic essentials and oh the bed was so comfy. It's quiet so you can get a decent sleep after long trip. It's great value for money

Floor in the room was very wet from the leaking fridge. The girl at reception gave me towels to put on the soaked floor.
The room smelled damp and generally bad.
The staff were really nice and the food was good but the room was terrible.

I regularly stay at the Mercure in Newcastle without any issues. My most recent stay was probelmatic and help from staff poor when I contacted them about the issue. The TV's at the Mercure in Newcastle are very basic, not like most hotels at this level, and all other Mercures that I have stayed in across Australia - some examples in NSW - Penrith, Goulburn, Blacktown where they would go out of their way to assist. At Newcastle they use Chromecast, the room I was in did not work, contacted reception and was told, of many of our TV's will not work using the Chromecast, it is an internet, hotel wifi issue. I said I am in room 505, can you do anything - a very blunt "no, room 505 is one of the problem rooms"! Also, room 505 faces the front and the nightclub or whatever it is across the road is a nightmare for noise, usually worse on the weeknd but something must have been happenning there earlier in the week as I was kept awake both nights with massive bass noise. Fells like a sonic boom! Much better I have found if your room faces the rear car park. Again - no help.

Great Place to Stay, close to everything.

We stayed here for the night and found it easy to find. The checkin process was excellent and stress free. There is, Convenient parking in a secure gated area beside the building for our car. There is a charge but it is well worth it.
Our room was on the top floor and it was very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee making with milk in the fridge was great. Plenty of coffee and tea for a coffee adict like me. The bathroom was very clean with a shower bath giving us both options. Excellent room.
We had a view of the local area from our large window.
The restraunt was excellent and gave us a number of options. I had the spagetti marinara and it was delicious, the other meal was a chicken snitty.
Service was very good and our waiter was polite and very experienced.
We attended the Buffet Breckfast the next morning and it catered for everyone. A very good selection with a number of bread and cereal varieties. Tea and coffee is included.
Over all our stay was very good. There is a large shopping centre accross the road from it which to us was a bonus to spend time in.
Our check out was excellent.
A special thanks must be given to lais Byrne the Front Office Manager.
She was just fantastic to interact with and answered all our questions about the area and gave us valuable information on the Waterfront places to visit.
Luckily Lias booked us in and Checked us out. It was great to meet her and on our 4 day stay in July, we are looking forward to seeing her again.
6 Stars for her and Outstanding too.
Elevate Travel and Cruises, Sydney. Thanks so much.
