Calm but a little cold

Staff were superb, friendly and understanding. I arrived late in the evening with a bike box in tow and they were cool with it. Hostel is spacious, and I could place the bike box in the 18-bed dorm on the edge. Wouldn’t be able to do that if more than maybe four cyclists turned up with bike boxes but they do have a yard where you could lock them up.
Free breakfast is basic but sufficient, did need more bowls though.
Vibe is a bit individualistic and ‘cold’ in sense of not many activities to bring people together. Understandable with a 10pm noise curfew.
All in all, pretty good!

overpriced, unhygienic and rundown

For the price of this hostel per night (50 dollars) our experience was less than satisfactory. We had booked a four bed dorm and the three other members of my party and I were split up into separate rooms.
On arrival we were given our bedding and room keys and once in our rooms we had to make the bunks that were left available in the rooms. There was a small locker per bed and some beds had storage pools underneath for people, others didn’t. The hostel seemed quite unhygienic from the beginning. The rooms hadn’t been swept for days as there was rubbish and grime all on the floor and under the beds. Out of the three rooms the four of us were staying in, only one had a window and ventilation, the others just had air con.
As seen in the pictures, the kitchen was always dirty and despite the signs saying it got cleaned twice a day, it was very minimal cleaning. Restocking of tea towels and changing of bins at best.
The dorms are the same re cleaning. Signs up around the hostel saying they get ‘cleaned’ once a week and that you would be notified so everything can be moved off the floor. No notice was given and the only cleaning that happened in the dorms was a quick sweep of the floor by the door.
The wifi was good and a lot of kitchen equipment is supplied. Although you’d be lucky to get a space in the fridge as it’s so full all the time.
On check out we were going to provide our experience of our stay to the receptionist. However they were not sat in the reception area, but in the kitchen eating food and not attending to the various people who were checking out. We just left our keys on the counter and left. Hence the review online instead of feedback given in person.
If this hostel was half the price, we would’ve expected what we got. However it is overpriced, rundown and unhygienic and none of the live-in staff seem to have much care for the people staying.
Staying at a hostel, we were obviously not expecting the luxury of a hotel. But there is an expectation of a certain level of cleanliness and a reflection of the price we paid.

Avoid like the bubonic plaque

Poorly run , poorly maintained , downstairs in the bathroom there has been 1 shower out of service and a blocked toilet for a week. Cleaners do the very minimum and just how this place stays open is beyond me . Avoid go anywhere else

Basic Bargain Backpackers

I booked my room using Trivago and Bookings.com.
What the Business tells you comes with the room is very misleading.
Everything was communal, and the room very basic with just a bed and a set off drawers.
Womens toilet/shower block has about 6 of each, although quiet clean very small cubicals.
Arrived at night and had to climb 3 flights of stairs from the car park to get to room, not suitable for a disabled person
Parking is very limited with about 7 spaces for cars, cost an additional $10 a night but is safe behind locked gate,
Fairly quiet, adult only guests with no parties.
No outdoor activites or facilities
Bus stops close by, free Red Cat service into Perth Central and train station.
Small hallways with lots of rooms
Nothing for kids and kids under 10 not allowed anyway
No vending machines or cafe, but it is close to restaurants and convenience stores
Free Breakfast 8-10, no room service
Air con in room was cold and a little noisy at night, no remote/controller for it.
Bedding supplied but need own towel. Bedding on top bunk was stained with what looked like blood there was also a blood like stain on the curtain. The bedding for the queen had the faint smell of stale beer.
Waste paper basket was stained too,
Windows needed a clean, gap between floor and window of a few centremetres.
Would have been happier if I had gotten a room as described on the booking sites and on the Backpackers own site.
Very basic but clean, quiet and central enough.
