Beachside getaway
Just checked out of a 2 nights stay and was extremely pleased. Booked a horizon ocean view room, when I first arrived the allocated room was facing the carpark. Reception were very kind to move me to beach side where the view was spectacular! All staff interactions were pleasant and friendly.
Room was large, bed comfy, bathroom clean and had a lovely relaxed vibe. Great balcony, although no chairs/tables outside.
Location is amazing, right on the beachfront and lots of places to eat.
Will definitely be back!

Check website, don't ring and book thru reception
Booked a room here for this weekend. Unfortunately I made a mistake and accidentally booked for last night. I only realised this this morning as they had taken payment today. Very distraught and upset I rang the hotel directly and explained what happened. They would not give any refund or move the booking. Was classed as no show. The only thing they would offer was a discount for Saturday which I was happy with. She then quoted a discounted price of $369 apparently down from $449.
On there website the same room is $268 for Saturday???

Needs updating and taking a long time for the renovations.

Ongoing renovation has taken years and still no entry, no pool, escalators broken. After taking a hold of $200 I then had a note slipped under my door to say that I needed to pay the $143 I had accrued in meal charges as they couldn’t extend the credit. I have stayed here over 20 times. NEVER AGAIN

The Rust Was Bad—The Response Was Worse
I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the Rendezvous Hotel Scarborough.
When I went to make a cup of tea, I opened the kettle and found the inside heavily rusted, with brown, rusty water sitting in the bottom. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable in any hotel room.
I understand the hotel is currently undergoing major renovations, and we booked knowing the pool was closed. That wasn't an issue. What I don't understand is why other facilities, such as the games room, were also out of service. However, none of that excuses the condition of the kettle.
The most disappointing part was the way the issue was handled. I took the kettle to reception expecting a simple apology and for it to be replaced. Instead, I was effectively told that the brown residue was because I had put coffee in the kettle.
Let's be clear—I did no such thing. The attached photo clearly shows rust inside the kettle. Rather than acknowledging the problem and apologising, the staff chose to argue with me and suggest I had caused it. That response was far more disappointing than the faulty kettle itself.
Mistakes happen, and I would have happily accepted a sincere apology and a replacement kettle. What I cannot accept is being dismissed and made to feel as though I was being dishonest.
Until someone from hotel management contacts me to discuss how this complaint was handled, I will continue sharing my experience. Guests deserve clean, safe facilities, and when legitimate concerns are raised, they deserve to be treated with respect rather than having blame shifted onto them.
