Great location and upscale feel

This hotel was perfect for our family while visiting Sydney. We loved how close it was to Central Station and our children enjoyed the pool. The linens, bathtub, and view made it feel “fancy” for our kids as well!

⭐⭐☆☆☆
I was disappointed with my stay at Mercure Sydney. For the price (about US$300/night), I did not feel it was good value. The room was very small, with barely enough space to open our luggage except on the bed. The lobby and reception area were also much smaller and less impressive than expected. Be aware that parking, early check-in, and late checkout all come with additional fees.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of flexibility and compassion. Checkout is at 10:00 AM, and on our departure day my son became ill, likely from jet lag. I requested a late checkout until 12:00 PM so he could rest until our family arrived to pick us up. I explained the situation several times and even asked that my request be escalated, but I was repeatedly told the hotel was fully booked. After being told there was absolutely no flexibility, I was then informed that a late checkout was available—for an additional AUD $40. That left a very poor impression.
The positives were the good breakfast, the in-room kettle with coffee and tea, and the convenient location near Chinatown and Central Station.
Overall, I would not stay here again. There are better-value options in Sydney.

great location, next to Sydney Central station

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights during our winter trip to Australia.
As we arrived early in the morning, we unfortunately were not able to secure an early check-in despite our Accor Plus Gold status. The good thing was that the lobby had large, comfortable sofas where our children, who were exhausted after getting very little sleep on the flight, were able to doze off for a couple of hours.
While waiting, we went out for lunch. The hotel's location was convenient, with numerous fast-food outlets and Chinese restaurants just across the street. When we returned at around 2:00 PM, our room was ready. Had we been able to check in before lunchtime, I would have rated the experience 9 out of 10.
The room was clean and spacious enough to accommodate our luggage as well as a wheelchair. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary birthday cake and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room.
Breakfast was fairly standard, with limited variety throughout our seven-night stay. That said, we appreciated the efficiency of the staff. Even during busy weekend mornings, it never took long for us to be seated.
There is also a small convenience store in the lobby, which was handy for picking up drinks and snacks.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at Mercure Sydney and would gladly consider staying there again in the future.

Great location and price where the hotel is situated. Close to Central Station.
Didn't have breakfast or use the facilities so can't judge. I self checked in and out so again can't judge staff overall comfortable and clean rooms and yes would stay again

OK but not as good as my previous visit

Not as good as my last stay but it's still a good hotel for the price.
I personally don't like the check-in kiosks, it results in a very impersonal welcome.
Room itself was fine, modern, quiet and comfortable but a bit dusty in parts and a view into an office. No status upgrade this time but a bottle of wine as the welcome gift was appreciated. Good shower and nice smelling bathroom amenities.
Room cleaning still wasn't done by 1pm after I'd been out all morning, despite hanging the "please clean" sign on the door. I wanted a nap then before a late night so had to skip the room refresh.
Lifts can be slow to arrive and often packed full at peak times - wasn't sure they were all actually working?
Breakfast is reasonable when you factor in the Accor+ discount, but they need more than one person seating people - always a big queue despite there being many free tables.
I really like the convenient location, the pub and the dinner (where food and service was superb), and all staff are friendly and welcoming, so would still consider staying again if the price is right.
