Very comfortable, welcoming hotel set a stone's throw from the Kitzsteinhorn glacier
A lovely, quaint hotel, just outside of Kaprun, great location near to the glacier, just two bus stops away. Very tasty food, ample breakfast every day and five course evening meal. Comfortable room, beds and relaxing sauna and steam room. We were very much welcomed by the staff and couldn't ask for a better reception and assistance with all our queries. Only thing to take into consideration is that the hotel is a couple of miles outside of the Kaprun town centre so you do have to rely on buses or taxis if you don't have a car. We missed the last bus and had to find a taxi.

Avoid Hotel Kunstlearlm at All Costs!
My stay at Hotel Kunstlearlm was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re considering booking here, do yourself a favor and read the Google reviews first—you’ll thank me later. Here’s why this place is a complete disaster:
1. Terrible Check-In Experience
The owner/manager was shockingly rude and unprofessional. We arrived at 7:01 PM, just a minute past the check-in window of 3-7 PM, along with another family. Instead of welcoming us, he barked, “What do you want?” When we said we were here to check in, he told us to wait because he was “busy.” We stood there for 20 minutes before he finally came over, and even then, there was no greeting, no smile—just cold, dismissive behavior.
2. False Advertising and Scamming Guests
We paid for a triple room that was supposed to include a double/king bed and a single bed. This was clearly stated in our booking and cost more than the standard double room. But when we were shown to our room, it was a standard double—smaller and missing the extra bed. When we pointed this out and showed the owner/manager our booking, he rudely replied, “We don’t have triple rooms. If you don’t like your room, you can leave.” His blatant disregard for our concerns was appalling, and even the other family checking in was visibly shocked at his attitude.
3. Noisy and Unpleasant Room Location
Our room was right in the hallway, meaning we heard every guest walking up and down, talking, and slamming doors all night and morning. Between skiers waking up early and other guests coming back late at night, it was impossible to sleep.
4. Infested with Silverfish
The room was infested with silverfish—creepy, crawling insects that thrive in damp, poorly maintained conditions. We had to kill these pests daily, which was absolutely disgusting and made the stay even worse.
5. Glitchy Bathroom Light
The bathroom light flickered constantly like a strobe light every time we turned it off. This was both irritating and indicative of how little effort is put into maintaining the property. I can’t upload the video I have of this here unfortunately.
The Only Positive:
The only redeeming quality of this hotel is its proximity to the Kitzeinhorn Glacier, just two bus stops away. However, the location doesn’t make up for the horrendous treatment and unacceptable conditions.
Overall:
This hotel is a scam. The owner/manager’s behavior is disgraceful, and the property is poorly maintained. I deeply regret not reading more reviews beforehand. Avoid Hotel Kunstlearlm at all costs—it’s simply not worth the hassle, frustration, or money!

Mittlerweile steht in sämtlichen Bewertungsportalen immer wieder der gleiche Text dieses Gastes, der uns bewusst Schaden zufügen möchte. Diverse Fehlverhalten des Gastes wie zum Beispiel die ungefragte Mitnahme von Lebensmitteln vom Frühstücksbuffet (der Gast hatte nur Frühstück gebucht und brauchte natürlich Verpflegung für den Tag), offen liegende Essensreste im Zimmer usw. möchten wir hier gar nicht weiter ausführen.
Die hier verfasste Bewertung besteht nur aus Lügen und verklärten Sachverhalten.
Check-In: Die Gäste kamen außerhalb der Check-In-Zeiten um 19:30 ins Hotel während die Rezeption geschlossen war und alle Mitarbeiter im Service beschäftigt waren, da dort 70 Hausgäste saßen die das Abendessen einnahmen. Auf die Bitte hin einen Moment zu warten wurden die Gäste unwirsch und wollten sofort ohne Wartezeit einchecken. Dies führte natürlich von Anfang an zu einem angespannten Verhältnis und rauen Ton beiderseits.
Falsche Werbung: Den Gästen wurde ein Zimmer in der von Ihnen gebuchten Kategorie zugewiesen (Zimmergröße, Terrasse). In der Zimmerbeschreibung steht das diese Zimmer 2 oder 3 Betten haben, somit ist es wohl kaum betrügerisch wenn 2 Gäste dann ein Zimmer mit einem Doppelbett erhalten.
Zimmerlage: Wo bitte sollen Hotelzimmer liegen als in einem Flur? Und das in einem Hotel in einem Skigebiet morgens Skifahrer zum Frühstück gehen ist m.E. auch nicht ungewöhnlich. Allein an diesen Punkten sieht man wie absurd diese Bewertung ist.
Silberfische: Das in einem Badezimmer Silberfische auftreten können ist nicht schön, kann aber passieren. Bei einem entsprechenden Hinweis an die Hotelleitung hätte man Maßnahmen ergreifen können.
Badezimmerlicht: Hier gilt das gleiche, bei einer Meldung des Problems hätte die Leuchte ausgetauscht werden können.
Der absurdeste Vorwurf ist jedoch, dass Sie im Hotel eingesperrt werden, weil ab 17:00 keine Busse mehr fahren. Sind wir als Hotel auch für die Verkehrsplanung der Gemeinde verantwortlich? Hätten Sie sich vorab informiert wüssten Sie das Hotel eine Alleinlage außerhalb von Kaprun hat.
Das unser Hotel nicht im entferntesten Ihren Schilderungen entspricht lässt sich in unzähligen Bewertungen bei Google, booking.com, etc. nachlesen. Mir tun jetzt schon die Hotels leid in denen Sie zukünftig Gäste sein werden.

Family skiing holidays at Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See-Kaprun
Stayed in this wonderful little hotel located in the picturesque part of the Austrian Alps. Very close to the cable cars, and if you don't want to drive and hunt for parking you can take the free bus rides coming every 15 minutes. The hotel staff is extremely nice, food is fulfilling, and the rooms are comfortable.

Great located at the Kitzsteinhorn, nice Sauna-but for the rest overpriced
We have been here for skiing and booked it, because we wanted to live near the mountain.
First the things we liked: sauna and the location.
Our room was very small and cold-a lot smaller than it looked at the homepage, the heater did not work and the window was leaky.
The breakfast was poor!! Dinner was ok.
The hosts and the staff wasn't very friendly.
Next time we will book wherelese.

2 Mins from The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier - Perfect.
Just spent 4 Nights over New Year @ The Kuenstleralm Hotel.
Great little hotel 2 bus stops down from the Kaprun Glacier.Small hotel,nice & warm serving typical Austrian Food.A little on the pricey side for people who might be used to package type skiing holidays.Also because of its situation you either need a car or you are reliant upon a very good bus service that gets you between the glacier & zell am see but stops running at around 5.00 p.m. So either you remain in the hotel or use taxis.
Only comment to make is the owner Frank's English tends to be used when it suits,also menu's only in Austrian so use of Google Translate useful but not always accurate.
Overall a good short break just around an Hour from Salzburg Airport.
