Excellent in location room and service
Booked a Motel One for the first time and immediately liked it very well, from super nice reception where we immediately felt welcome, the very spacious disabled room to the delicious breakfast buffet . Parking under the Hauptplatz , exit Rathaus with Lift and you cross the square and you are in front of the hotel. You get a discount on the price of the parking garage

Hotel location was right in the center and facilities including my room were in excellent shape. Also, staff was courteous and attentive. Highly recommended

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was completely unacceptable.
I booked TWO rooms directly at reception — one for my daughters and one single room for myself.
Before paying, I specifically asked the receptionist, Emma, if I could see the room first. She refused to let me see it. I therefore trusted the hotel, paid for both rooms, and went upstairs.
Only AFTER paying did I discover what I had actually been given.
My single room was extremely small and uncomfortable, but the most unacceptable part was the VERY strong smell of cigarette smoke inside the room — despite the hotel being advertised as NON-SMOKING.
I immediately returned to reception and explained the problem to Emma. I made it very clear that I could not sleep in a room that smelled strongly of cigarettes. I was simply told that the hotel was fully booked and that there was no other room available.
This is precisely why I had asked Emma to see the room BEFORE I paid.
Had I been allowed to inspect the room beforehand, I would never have accepted it.
I was travelling with my daughters and had already paid for two rooms. I was not asking for luxury, special treatment or an unreasonable upgrade. I simply expected a clean, comfortable, smoke-free room — especially in a hotel that presents itself as non-smoking.
Being “fully booked” does not make an unacceptable room acceptable, nor does it resolve the problem for the guest who has already paid.
The most disappointing part of this experience was not only the room itself, but the way the situation was handled. Once payment had been taken, I was left with a room I had specifically tried to inspect beforehand and with no meaningful solution to the cigarette smell.
Guests should be able to trust that what a hotel advertises is what they will actually receive.
Unfortunately, what this hotel advertised and what I personally received were two very different experiences.
I am documenting my experience here so that future guests can make an informed decision.
I would not stay here again.

Great location
This hotel is in a perfect location, right on the main square in Linz, restaurants and bars walking distance and most trams stop right outside. The hotel itself is nice, the bar doubles up as a reception so can get busy. Room itself was very comfortable with a clean bathroom. Staff were friendly throughout our stay. I’d definitely stay here when visiting Linz as the location is unbeatable.
