Gorgeous view, after the BEST hike

Wonderful Austrian restaurant with delicious beer and goulash spaetzle. We hiked up from town in about 90 minutes., enjoyed the snow covered mountains and early spring flowers. The pause beer and soup made for the perfect day on a quick trip.

Breathtaking scenery!

Awesome scenery - the place is located at appr. 1200 metres. The place itself is already worth the visit.
Very clean rooms, best beds we have come across so far in Austria and Germany, great showers (not given in central Europe), friendly service, great price for quality, free & working wifi, decent breakfast and free parking (you will need a car, believe me).
A trekking route goes through the property and a nearest mountain hut is roughly 2 - 2,5h (ascent) away (decent 1,5h). If possible, ask for a refreshed room in the newer side/main building.
This is our favorite gasthouse/hotel in Austria and Germany and we have traveled a lot in those countries.

Great! Mind blowing view, kindness and care!

Spectacular view!! Very convenient, cosy rooms. Dryers for wet ski boots. But above all, hostess really makes you feel at home - so carefull, kind and warmharted! Dinner was very nice, very Austrian :) Room has an infrared sauna. We got sunburn on mountain and the hostess offered to give some medicine. Unbelievable place, we will come back always when skiing.

Fabulous location let down by poor service

The hotel is exactly as described with fabulous views in all directions except North-East. It sits on the side of the hill overlooking Mayrhofen with views over the mountains and valleys. The breakfast room is south-facing with huge windows and I could have watched the view for hours.
We had the "family room" which consists of a double and twin with a small private hallway (good for storage) and a single bathroom with bath, shower and twin sink. The rooms were recently renovated and immaculately clean and good free WiFi.
We booked half-board, the evening meals were good quality - though you get what you're given. The breakfasts were disappointing - only rolls with meat, wurst, cheese and jam. It was only as we left that we found out we could have have muesli, fruit and/or eggs to order. Which brings me to my gripe: there was almost no interaction and engagement from the person who served us most of the meals - we didn't know what was on offer and little information forthcoming. It was not a language problem, we are fluent German speakers.
The lady at reception was lovely and what we expect from Austrian hospitality, but unfortunately not there enough of the time. She assures us that things will soon improve and the guests better informed.

Unique location. Friendly and homely service.

I love this "gasthaus" in Brandberg near Mayerhofen! The location approx. 500m above the town of Mayerhofen ensures a solitaire and unique location plus unbeatable panorama views over the valley and the surrounding hills and mountain tops. In winter time this place offers a wonderful and inexpensive alternative to the pricey hotels downtown (but you will need a car and maybe even snow chains). In summer time this place must be a hiker's dream come true! Service was personal, friendly and excellent. The food was great (but with a limited menu of course). Breakfast was rich and wonderful. A special cheers for the lovely hosts and their staff. Can't wait to go back to Brandberg and Berggasthaus "Steinerkogl" again!
