Great hotel
We spent 2 nights here and we really liked our stay there. Our room was clean, the matrasses are comfortable. The whole building is renovated and looks fresh. Their breakfast is various and offer a lot of fresh products. It’s a quiet location next to the nature. Great place if you’re with a car. The administrator and the owner were kind and helpful. The price corresponds to the quality. My recommendation

One night stop on way to Hungary, wish we had more!
Amazing hotel and no idea why booking.com only shows 2 stars. Renovated about a year ago, it has a warm and welcoming feel, lots of real wood and well chosen decor giving it a modern but charming look and feel. We stayed on the 2nd floor, very spacious rooms, bed exceedingly comfortable (easy to over sleep!) Roomy shower (can wash hair without banging elbows!). Good wifi connection too. Staff are lovely, get the impression they will go out of their way for you. There is a small bar with a good range of drinks and some great local wines wines. Breakfast is amazing! Do not skip!!

Perfect 2025 White Christmas at Obertrauner Hof
Family of 5 (parents and 3 adult children) travelling from Australia for a White Christmas experience in Austria. We stayed at Obertrauner Hof for 4 nights from Christmas Eve in December 2025. As a family who had never seen snow before, we were blessed with gentle falling snow as we arrived by train on Christmas Eve. This set the scene for what was our perfect Christmas staying at the wonderful Obertrauner Hof and enjoying the stunning surrounds of Obertraun and Hallstatt.
The Obertrauner Hof has recently been beautifully and tastefully renovated. We had three rooms at the hotel each with balconies and stunning mountain views. Each room was spacious and well appointed. The Obertrauner Hof is a small, boutique hotel that operates as a bed and breakfast with a lovely and varied small buffet breakfast. There is a small bar that operates until 7pm. Reception is closed overnight. Staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any queries.
One thing to note is that Obertrauner Hof is three storeys high and does not have a lift. This was not a problem for our family but it would not be suitable for people with mobility issues or who were not able to carry luggage upstairs.
We absolutely loved our stay at Obertrauner Hof and would thoroughly recommend it. I just hope to be able to stay there again one day!

Great!
We had to check in early after driving a whole night, please, thanks! Breakfast good. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a good parking for our car. We could charge the car too, for a small fee. The hotel has great location. We're super happy. The only thing you can think about is that there is no AC. It was so hot when we were here, over 30 degrees. We lived upstairs on the third floor. But we got a breather from a wonderful woman who worked at the front desk, thank you. You are absolutely wonderful!

Great staff great place and awesome place
We had a wonderful stay. The staff was exceptionally friendly and warm. The accommodation was very clean, everything brand new and well equipped. The location is perfect – sights can be reached in only about 5 minutes. Parking was available at all times without any problems. There's really nothing to complain about. We would definitely come back!
