Seriously disappointing and expensive for what you get
Where to start?
The website is very misleading. We booked so that we could spend the week mountain biking.
This was made clear in our communication before booking. However to get to the mountains is 35km away (cycling...one way) or Euro40 per day round trip and an hour on the train. The website makes it look like it is mountain biking Mecca from the hotel doorstep.
Location: there is honestly NOTHING to do in Strass IZ.
The rooms overlook the train station and a 4 way intersection. This means that from 6am there are trucks come thick and fast. No more sleep.
Flies are an issue. There are thousands so you cant keep the door open (noise aside) as your room will become one big fly magnate. It’s disgusting.
We were booked on for 6 nights but after 2 nights moved out. We still had to pay Euro200 for the 4 nights we weren’t staying there. The rate was Euro134 per night which is a lot of money for what you get!
We moved to a 4 star hotel in Mayrhofen (which was quiet and beautiful and had amazing views and service) and was almost half the price!
I appreciate we had booked for 6 nights and chose to leave after 2 but I feel disgruntled having to pay Euro268 for two terrible nights and an additional Euro200 when we didn’t even stay.
This goes down as our worst experience in Austria and I feel that we were mislead by the website. Be warned! The photos attached are what it actually looks like. And there is honestly nothing to do there.
