Thermal Badhotel Kirchler
Set amidst the beautiful mountains of the Zillertal Alps, this hotel, which has been run by the same family for 4 generations, is only 500 metres away from the valley station of the Hintertux Glacier cable car.

Lovely hotel at the end of a stunning valley
There was a littl e bit of construction work being donebut we were prewarnwed and it certainly didn't detract from the place. The room we stayed in was a "type 3" and was huge. It had a third single bed and a sofa that could also be made into a bed. The veiw from the balcony was amazing. I have seen a review mentioning the dated bathroom and need for cleaning up the tiles. This was fairly minor and the hotel are emabrking on an update anyway.
Staff were freindly and efficient. Some spoke English but I speak German so didn't really notice. There were no other English speakers int he hotel.
There is an indoor pool which is of a resaonable size. The water temperature is cool but we had high temperatures so that was welcome. There were sunbeds inside and around the pool as well as on a sun terrace. This spa area was clean and never got too busy.
There are three sauna's and a steam room. One sauna was for nudists only (with a small nudist sun terrace). The others seemed optional and nobody seemed too bothered. There were several quiet rooms as well. The Spa was a great area and much needed at the end of the day.
We stayed 7 nights half board. Breakfast was the usual mix of cold meets, cheese, rolls, fruit, cereal and some hot itesm such as eggs, bacon etc. All was very enjoyable and a good start to the day.
Five of the evening meals were a la carte. You chose your main cours in the morning from 2 meat/fish choices and a vegatarion. Meals started with the salad bar, starter, soup, main course, dessert and cheese/biscuits. The quality of the food was really good but, for us, a bit too much as we didn't always have all courses.
One night a week appears to have a grill where this is prepared outside and was a buffet style selection. There was also a buffet night with a lot of choices of local meats etc. Again, the quality was high.
There is also a bar inthe hotel that is reasonably sized and quiet.
All in all this was a real gem. We managed to spend a lot of time in the valley as well as in the pool and came home very relaxed. I have stayed in similar hotels and the cost here was very reasonable in comparison with them.
We hired a car and it is worth bearing in mind any travel to other cable cars or towns is at least a 30 minute drive or a longer bus journey.
I would recommend a trip to the top of the glacier, amazing at 3250m and deep snow. The whole Zillertal is an area with lots to explore and we have scratched the surface. We will be back in the Zillertal next year as well as at the Thermal-Badhotel Kirchler.

A Hotel That Truly Cares About Its Guests
Due to my travel schedule, I arrived quite late in the evening, after the restaurant had already closed. To my surprise, the staff had prepared food for me so that I would not have to go hungry. This was an incredibly thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated after a long journey.
Throughout my stay, every member of staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional. It almost felt as if they could read every wish from my face before I even had to ask. Their genuine hospitality made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived.
The hotel itself was excellent, but what truly sets it apart is the people who work there. Their kindness, attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction left a lasting impression on me.
I would gladly stay here again and can highly recommend it.

Terrible food
Restaurant food and service is awful. Highly processed food. Everything tastes like it's from a packet or can. I left the hotel and checked into another hotel which had far superior food.
The only nice part is the new pool and sauna. Reusing leftovers is ok but in my opinion they did it too much and with items that shouldn't be reused. In a 4 star hotel I don't want frankfurter sausages, burnt bacon, the cheapest sourced food you can find. Slices of spam. A starter which is a roll of sandwich processed ham and cheese. Meat you can't chew. To be told they lost my main course order so I can just go to the children's buffet to eat. They served my kid alcoholic desserts repeatedly which is not nice for a kid and he was ill after the 3rd meal. The local farm yoghurt is so sour and lumpy it's not edible.
Better to go without a pool!
Reception staff were great at handling my request to leave thanks. Rooms old but spacious.
Buckets of water catching leaks downstairs, flooded areas etc.... no toilet seat in ski room. They obviously have some financial issues and are trying to renovate so the food budget is the smallest possible. Shame.
