Terrible facilities, misleading information, and extremely rude staff

Terrible facilities, misleading information, and extremely rude staff
⭐ 1/5
We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Lucia Vienna and this was easily one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
First, the room had no kettle, no fridge, and no iron — basic amenities you expect even in budget accommodation. The location is also very far from Vienna city centre, making travel inconvenient and time-consuming.
But the biggest issues were the service and false promises. At check-in, we were clearly told breakfast was included. When I asked specifically if vegan options were available, I was assured 100% that there would be. However, when we went for breakfast, the staff member was grumpy and unhelpful. When I asked for vegan food, he bluntly said they had nothing. There was no plant-based milk, so we had to bring our own just to have coffee. All we could eat was bread and jam.
At checkout, we were suddenly told breakfast was not included and we were charged €64 for two days. When I questioned this, the male receptionist started shouting loudly, spoke over me repeatedly, and refused to let me explain. I asked him to check our booking where it was noted, but he refused and demanded payment immediately. After we paid, he rudely told us to “get out”.
This hotel is dishonest, lacks basic facilities, and treats guests with zero respect. We strongly advise everyone to stay away — there are far better, more honest options in Vienna.

Dear Michele Gee,
Thank you very much for your review, which gives us the opportunity to respond to your inaccurate and untrue statements. Particularly in light of the fact that you threatened to leave a negative review, we should charge you for breakfast.
It should be noted that you have not read the information about our hotel facilities carefully. In fact, for environmental reasons, our rooms do not have minibars, fridges or kettles. For this reason, there is a bar area in our lobby where we offer hot and cold drinks. Our tea bar is even free for our guests between 15:00 and 22:00.
Upon enquiring with the team member who assisted you at check-in, it emerged that she did not mention that breakfast was included in your booking. It is also true that you apparently did not read your booking confirmation carefully and overlooked the fact that you had booked a room-only rate.
We would also like to point out that all staff members were friendly and courteous towards you. Furthermore, your claim that I said “get out” to you after you had paid is a blatant lie. I politely said goodbye to you with “Goodbye and all the best”.
Best regards,
Dimitrij Simulevski & the Hotel Lucia Team

Great value for money. Near tram stop to city center. Parking pricey.

Great hotel for the price. Somewhat outdated but good beds, neat bathroom. With window closed quiet otherwise bothered by the busy road. Air conditioning available. Breakfast fine. Located near tram stop which takes you to the center within 15 minutes. Parking pricey (€18 per day) and parking only accessible via a very narrow passage (not nice with a little size car).

Quiet hotel in Vienna, near the subway

The hotel is a good 3-star, very convenient for its location. Just 2 minutes from the subway, in about 20-25 minutes you are in the center of Vienna. Clean, quiet rooms. Suitable for a quiet stay at reasonable prices. Good breakfast.

The most expensive pillow in Vienna

We stayed at this hotel from 22 to 26 April with a very simple idea: to have a quiet foothold to sleep while exploring Vienna. And in fact, for that, the hotel makes its own: small but clean room, price in line with the city, nothing memorable but not disastrous either. Too bad the living room turned into a little tragicomedy.
Let's start with the staff: we met three receptionists, always in the evening. Two really nice girls, friendly and helpful. Then the third, the only man, we dealt with on the first and last night. Already from the first it was distinguished by unwelcoming and rather grumpy ways, but at check-out, unfortunately, we had the final confirmation. In fact, this is where the show begins: we are correctly charged a beer and a bottle of water, and so far everything is fine. Then comes the surprise: more than 30 euros for the “cleaning” of a pillowcase and its pillowcase, guilty of having been stained by a MICRO drop of blood (yes, a very banal episode of nosebleeds during the night).
We ask for an explanation. Answer: "the system says so."
We ask for further clarification. Answer: “it is not my decision.”
We ask to speak to a manager, he calls and talks to us but identical result.
In the meantime, some interesting details:
- daily cleaning was declared as included (towels changed daily, so the service exists),
- the bed, however, has never been changed in 4 days (sheets, pillows and blankets always the same), and above all: the famous "clean" pillow... was still stained. Yes, I did. Clean... but stained, an interesting concept. We also showed the photo but no reaction, just a mechanical repetition of the same sentences, accompanied by a decidedly unfriendly attitude.
Added to this is an unpleasant aspect: we had the distinct feeling that the situation was handled taking advantage of the fact that we did not speak perfect English (and not at all German), making the comparison even more difficult and opaque. In fact, the second chapter of this sad story concerns languages: the property states on Booking that it speaks different languages, including Italian. In fact, during the debate, we were told clearly that nobody speaks anything other than German and English. Information that would have been useful BEFORE booking. So here there are two possibilities: either the structure declares on Booking that it also speaks Italian without this being true, or, curiously, that evening no one “remembered” to speak it. In both cases, not exactly the maximum clarity towards the customer.
End of story: the refund arrived, but only thanks to the intervention of Booking, which handled the situation with professionalism.
And here is a final reflection, with a hint of irony: it is often said that we Italians try to “be smart”... but apparently, even if it were, we are certainly not the only ones. We were polite and quiet guests throughout the stay, at least until we had the feeling that someone was trying to get smart with us.
Moral: hotel “okay” until nothing happens but if something happens... good luck. 10 to Booking for assistance and instead to the 1-star hotel because zero can not be put. We're never coming back.

Gentile Makika2608,
Cordiali saluti,
Dimitrij Simulevski & il team dell’Hotel Lucia
