An oasis of tranquility in Brugge

We stayed in the Melgar house and it was perfect. Plenty of space for a long stay with three comfortable bedrooms. The main bedroom has a huge window over the gardens that let's in plenty of light and the whole house is very light and airy.
Large comfortable lounge with a library full of old books about Brugge and Belgium. Dining room seating six plus an outside dining area also seating six. Well equipped kitchen looking out onto the garden and sun terrace.
The location is a short stroll into the city but far enough away to have peace and quiet. A bonus is parking and if you bring a bike, space for storage.
I'm already missing the peace and tranquillity, the walk up to the windmills with the dog and the easy access to numerous cycle routes off the Dampoort.
Francis and Louise are charming and helpful hosts and very discreet.
Highly recommended

An oasis of calm and peace

We were very happy with our stay at Silent Bruges. Michael and his wife are so kind and helpful. The apartment is located 5 minutes from Markt on a main street but it is set back so you dont hear any street noise. The lounge area is very cosy and perfect for catching up on resr and reading, especially as there are many books to choose from. Spotlessly clean, the large bed is a delight, and is hard to get up from! Breakfast is delicious and substantial and enough to carry through to dinner. The honesty beer bar was gratefully taken advantage of during our quarantine on our first night. If you're new to the city take advantage of Michael's encyclopedic knowledge of the city and it's long history. Highly recommended

A hidden gem in Bruges

We completely loved our stay in Silent Bruges, which is so peaceful and quiet it was hard to leave! The space is delightful, artfully decorated, and equipped with a bed comfortable beyond belief. The well equipped kitchen offers all you might need, and Michael, the host, provides a filling and delicious breakfast, including many choices to decorate your toast, creatively presented in all manner of unique little pots. He even supplied very delish gluten free bread for me, while my husband happily enjoyed his croissants! A Bruges native, Michael gives guests a detailed history of the city, and a suggested walking tour route to see off the beaten path parts of this wonderful town. He also has tips for dining, but the chocolate is so amazing you may not want dinner!

Perfect in every way - location, hosts, amenities

This tripadvisor entry has a photo of the OTHER accommodation called Gray Bruges as its main photo which, although I haven't seen it, is a room in the loft. 'Silent Bruges' is the ground floor flat which is where we stayed.
I booked it through AirBnB although there might be other ways to book either accommodation.
Michael & his wife are the loveliest people you could meet - kind, considerate, helpful. They certainly went the extra mile in making our holiday perfect. There are a lot of lovely reviews on the AirBnB site which is why we booked to stay there. The photos and comments were right on the mark, no surprises whatsoever.
The flat is located in a great location with every possible amenity it really feels like home & nice to have a lovely breakfast provided.
We were given lots of tips re places to see, a map with a suggested walking trail & a guidebook available in lots of languages.
I'd definitely stay there again were I travelling to Bruges.

Hospitality plus more.

My daughter and husband booked this hidden gem. Well kept apartments, recently remodeled. Modern conveniences. Close to all the sights and restaurants. The B&B host welcomes you. Nice breakfast every morning. Will provide a walking tour which we preferred rather than the commercial tours. Provides info on sights to see and recommends dining suggestions. Would stay here again.
