I am so glad we booked the Black Swan for our stay in Bruges. The room was lovely & breakfast was delicious! The location could not be more perfect & the gentleman on the front desk was so helpful. I would recommend the Black Swan to anyone looking to stay in Bruges.

Dirty, unsafe
The location of this hotel is excellent and the room seemed pleasant enough - but the hotel public spaces were filthy and borderline unsafe.
Filthy carpets, furniture, exposed wiring, left out tools and cleaning equipment as well as the steepest stairs you’re likely to come across. It should also be said there is no lift. If you’re on the top floor then good luck with a heavy suitcase!
Breakfast was pretty poor too. Lack of selection.
The parking allocation is not outside the hotel. You can have up to 20 mins to drop bags off. However, you need to drive another five mins to a lock up garage area. It’s not too far at all.
If this place had a thorough clean and tidied up, particularly the unsafe areas, it would have a really good chance at being a nice hotel.

Thank you for your feedback and photos. Unfortunately, the marks you saw in the photos were left by a previous guest, and we addressed this immediately within the following days. The cleaning equipment you noticed was out because our housekeeping team was actively cleaning the hotel at that time. Regarding the elevator, as we are located in a historic building, installing one would not be in keeping with the building's structure and character, so we do not offer one — this is always communicated to guests in advance of booking.
That said, our staff are always available to help with luggage, both when bringing it up and down. As for the garage, it is only 2 minutes from the hotel; we always recommend guests bring their luggage to us by car first, and then park at their leisure.
We sincerely apologize for the loose wiring, which has since been fixed. Thank you again for your comments, and we will strive to do better.

Great location, bad venue
Parking is available nearby to the hotel, and the location of the property is close to the centre of Bruges. This makes sightseeing really easy and everything is very walkable. The hotel itself reminds me of the Haunted Mansion. Very dark and gloomy inside, and very dirty. In our room the wall lamps were realistic large black swans heads, which were very creepy and not great to see in the middle of the night! We had a family room on the top floor which is accessed from extremely sleep and narrow tread stairs. which faces the street. Opposite is a property undergoing complete renovation and workmen are on site by 7.30am. The room was boiling hot at night and the fans seemed to just blow about the hot air. If you are after a lie in then this isn't the property for you. Just a word of warning. Our bathroom window was a sky light, which is overlooked by windows above. Im sure local peeping toms have a field day! Breakfast is typical continental style, and not very inspiring or filling. I would never stay again.

As a protected heritage building, we're unfortunately not permitted to install a lift or central air conditioning, and the stairs to the upper floors are original to the building. We do provide fans, though we recognise they offer limited relief during a heatwave, and we're sorry this affected your sleep. We're also sorry for the disturbance caused by the renovation works opposite — this is being carried out by a third party and is unfortunately outside our control, though we understand how disruptive early-morning noise can be during a stay.

We had a pleasant stay at this centrally located hotel. The family room comfortably accommodated five people, with real beds for everyone, which was much appreciated. The room was clean and well maintained, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious. The breakfast buffet was modest but offered all the essentials, and everything was fresh. Water pressure in the shower was somewhat weak, possibly because we were staying on the top floor.
We also booked parking through the hotel. Thanks to the detailed instructions provided, it was easy to find. However, guests arriving with a larger vehicle should be aware that access to the parking is tight and can be quite challenging to navigate.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel to other families looking for a convenient and comfortable base in the city.

Good location & reasonable price
Good location, decent breakfast and spacious rooms.
No lift & narrow stairs so could be awkward if you will struggle to carry your bags up.
We stayed on top floor which was nice but low ceilings did result in a few bumped heads.
Was not too hot when we stayed but proper air conditioning would be helpful in warmer weather.
