Super Holidays in the Ardennes

With my friends we stayed in this beautiful cottage for a weekend.
We love the place, There are hikes close to the accommodation as well as different small Ardennes town with spellbinding charm such as la-roche-en-ardennes and Durbuy~ Parking is available to holidaymakers, useful for parking your car (essential element to visit the Ardennes).
The quiet setting of the accommodation offers a calming serenity. It is the perfect place to rest between 2 visits.
I strongly advise the sweaty visitor to discover the Belgian Ardennes .

Peace and quiet

We booked an apartment for a week. The property is made up of 3 buildings, the farmhouse occupied by the owners, a converted barn with 3 apartments (where we stayed) and the old staples which have also been converted into (larger) accommodation. The farm is surrounded by fields where animals roam and woods. The village is very quiet, with only a restaurant and the odd visit from the ice-cream van for entertainment, but the town of Hotton is quite close for supplies and petrol. The flat we rented is on two levels in the attic of the barn, living room/kitchenette/bathroom on the lower floor and 3 beds on the higher level. This means, for families, that all either go to bed early or all go late ! The apartment was small but clean. The kitchen is quite small. Cooking facilities consist of one stove with 4 plates, but a communal microwave can be used downstairs. Having a microwave in each apartment would be more comfortable but I think that space in the kitchen would be an issue. We had breakfast at the flat, packed a picnic for lunch and usually ate at the "friterie" in Hotton in the evening. Wi-Fi is available but erratic (rural location and number of users on the network) so we had a bit of a digital detox (but it didn't kill us !). The Dutch owners were friendly and helpful.

Friendly hosts, comfortable apartment, super breakfast

We stayed one night at the farm, sadly the weather was bad and we only got to see the ponys. However, the hosts were very pleasant and helpful, the apartment was warm, the beds were comfortable and the shower worked perfectly. We were positively surprised by the breakfast which was brought to our apartment.

Friendly owner, great location, very comfortable stay

We stayed in the farm for a weekend with a small baby, and enjoyed very much.
A camping bed with an extra mattress was put in the room for the baby without any problem.
The room is basic, but very clean, and has all what we need. Btw, the mattress is very good!
And the very friendly owner also let us to check out later than required. This is possible because it's low season and there's no booking after us.
The farm itself is very beautiful, with lots of animals (dogs, chicken, pony, etc) which the owners take care of. It would be great for kids to run around and play with animals. It also has a large bbq in the yard. I expect a very good atmosphere in summer.
Finally the location is great. We did cycling and walking. For cycling there's fantastic routes and view. For walking it's through the woods. There's also a restaurant (la garange) just next door, which has free wifi.

Great place in a beautiful setting

We chose this as an overnight stop off when going to the Spa Grand Prix. Great price, beautiful location, host was lovely & very welcoming. Just a pity we didn't stay another night. Great breakfast & we were given fresh croissants for our children at our table, really nice touch.
Accommodation was bunk and single beds very basic but this was what we wanted. You have to take your own bedding (bed sheets, pillows & pillow cases) not very clear when booking but the owner contacted us before hand so we found this no problem. Lovely courtyard to sit & have a drink under the stars before bed
