We stayed three nights at this hotel. It was an easy walk from the train station (10-15 minutes) and close to many shops and restaurants. We arrived about 90 minutes before check in and were told that our room was not ready (understandable). We weren’t offered the chance to store our bags with the hotel while we waited so we had to drag around our suitcases for a while. We found a nice outdoor cafe attached to the Abbey which was close by so just had a drink there while we waited for our room to be ready. Our room (#5) was bright and had very high ceilings. Lots of storage and a well-equipped bathroom. Clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast buffet was on the smaller side but nicely curated with tasty options (coffee, juice, fruit, toast, yogurt, cheeses, sliced meats, pastries etc). They will also cook eggs to order. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Not clean , Disappointing, dot + parking

Disappointed, On paper it looks good but the reality... dark corridors smell of stubborn burnt wood and so what to say about the cleanliness of the bed! Alèse dirty lots of “yellow” stains mattress also, hair, cold decor, terribly dirty toilet!
Decent breakfast nice staff but then to see the state of the ground we wonder about hygiene, table not cleaned after the 1st customer

Highly recommended

If you like gastronomy, this is and will remain a must in Kortrijk. Pleasant environment, nice sommelier (with fine humor). From apero to cheese plate, highly recommended.

We had been looking forward to this weekend and the hotel well chosen but we stayed on our hunger.

Despite mutual agreement, our room was not made up for our honeymoon, shortage of towels and the empty soap dispenser made our reception a minor. A "sorry" was the only excuse we were allowed to receive and nothing else was done to correct this mistake. The breakfast was good though.

Disappointment

Once eating in the restaurant of the hotel which is very good you would except that the hotel is on the same level but it's not. The rooms are very old fashion, only one socket in the room & not next to the bed. The fitness room is very old fashion. The worst is the breakfast which is until 10:30. At 09:30 there was not grained bread anymore, no croissants any more. Some of the waiters didn't care (we stayed 4 days). We got the feeling that the hotel isn't important to the owner, only the restaurant is important.

Dear Paul,
We remember your stay very well. Despite the fact that we took great care to meet your very specific wishes – from peeling cucumbers entirely to buying special apple juice just for you – there was always something else.
Even the room you had chosen was not good enough because it had a small step.
When we offered you an alternative room, that too was not acceptable.
As the owner, I am present in both the hotel and the restaurant every single day and run this house with heart and soul.
But honestly, with you I had to walk away, because nothing was ever good enough.
Your expectations are clearly more in line with a five-star hotel.
We therefore kindly suggest that in the future you choose that category of hotel and no longer book Hotel Messeyne.
