Great place to stay
I stayed in a vw California t7 ocean on my way from center parcs to Calais for a night.
The site had clean facilities and may add on amenity's such as hot tubs, private facilities, outdoor kitchen and a sauna all of which were private. We booked a sand dunes with hot tubs and it was perfect for the three of us.
However our pitch had very limited grass and all the sand made our van get messy quick.

CHOOSE ANOTHER CAMPSITE
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAMPSITE. UNFRIENDLY. WANT LOTS OF MONEY FOR EVERYTHING, FAR TOO SMALL PLACES! 10min too late for the barrier to go home because our baby was sick. Pay another €27!! Ridiculous!!! I read earlier in the revieuws mass is cash register.... Well this is definitely correct in every way!!

Very disappointing
The dune spots itself where okay, not as large as expected but okay. The private bathroom was absolutely wonderful, large, great shower.
But.. having dirt roads everywhere is a drama. Kids like to ride bikes and bobbycars and sand flies all over.
There is no shop, only some automates.
We forgot to take toothpaste but before we found the nearest supermarket it was closed.
Then the only restaurant BAS, you can only eat when you have made a reservation and the guy who was responsible for taking the reservations and the food was not friendly at all! Drinks and food where taken by different people, the one who took the order for our drinks was okay.
We left 2 days early very disappointed and will not be back

Dirty campsite, but good base.
Stayed with the caravan on a dune site, so take into account a lot of dust also by passing cars / mobile homes / cyclists / mopeds. The leaflet says < 120m2, but some places are 60 m2 of useful space with great difficulty due to calving of the artificial dunes. The choice of electricity and water on top of the dune also does not help. These places used to have mobile homes, so the pitches are solid and flat, but you can barely get a herring in the ground because of the thick bed of stone chips (with 6 bft really necessary). Various sturdy pegs smashed by this surface. Sanitary has been renewed and sufficient for our block, but seriously too small for other blocks. These were formerly maintained by their own staff. Now by external personnel who change every day. Everyone complained about dirty showers, toilets, insufficient soap, toilet paper, ... . Frequency rate of 2 times a day at full occupancy is also far too low! Interventions were to show people how to clean WITH water, but next time different people, meaningless. Almost no control by the campsite itself. In these places you can also choose how you stand (although in most places this cannot be different due to the small space). But at the XL place right in front of us they allowed a caravan + awning and a car with roof tent that looked directly from above at us. Animation only suitable for preschoolers if your child does not like ball sports. Good base, but that's it. Price - quality not correct!

Compass Camping Westende sanitation issue.
Great place, the washrooms are new and clean. A major drawback is the number of sanitation facilities. For pitches 1 to 177, there are only two toilets and one shower available in the new washroom. It would be good to have a number system so that one can take their turn. After a longer walk to the next and only other washroom, there are 12 showers available for the entire site. Having a number system would also be good here.
