ROAD TRIP 2015

This lovely small family run hotel is the ideal stopping off place travelling through Belgium.
We were a group of 3 couples driving in 3 cars.. This was our first stop after leaving England. Beautiful rooms with old world charm and a great welcome from the landlady.
Breakfast was superb and plentiful, would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bad

Check in counter 300m away from actual hotel, and they ask you to go get the keys (instead of bringing them to you)
No heater (10C night outside, end of September)
Too expensive 70eur a night for a 2 star hotel in a small town

Basic unstaffed hostel; very poor value

We stopped here en-route to Calais needing a simple room for a hassle free night’s sleep. Check in, confusingly, is at the very upmarket Hotel La Malle Poste just under half a km away. After hiking up our room rate as we tried to check in (hassle we weren’t up for) we were given a door code and told there was only one parking place so we would need to use public parking. So much for hassle-free...
We arrived at the hostel, let ourselves in through the coded door which then didn’t shut behind us without a good push - if we hadn’t spotted that by chance the front door would have been ajar all night.
Our room was reasonably clean but quite tired, faded white paint, mismatching furniture, cracked tiles, badly fitted toilet seat, old and weathered shower cubicle. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the building at all - and obviously no form of room service so if you do want a cup of tea your only option is to head out - not great at 6pm on a Friday evening!
Credit where it’s due - the bed was very comfortable (hence two stars) - though sleep was badly disturbed by traffic noise echoing between the high brick buildings along the busy main road in front, despite all the windows being closed (with no air con I wouldn’t like to stay here in the summer as you certainly wouldn’t want to leave the windows open given the HGV traffic which we heard from before 6am on Saturday morning!).
We left very disappointed - after driving for 4500km through several different Euopean countries this was without doubt the worst stopover we experienced - whilst also the most expensive - by a significant margin on both counts.

Really Nice place, but no customer service

Place is really nice and well refined.
Room was good with a lot of nice decorative things, but there was no customer service at all. As we arrive they asked us to pay and they stormed out. Sure, they were working somewhere else, but still... Anyway, 4 star for the place, -1 for the totally missing customer service.

Just the basics
