Great, special hotel, centrally located on a quiet street.

Strange and completely unjustified, all those negative reviews. Nothing wrong with this hotel. It's clean. It's clean. The beds are good. The receptionist is friendly and does his job fine. It is not a boring standard hotel of thirteen in a dozen, with long corridors to which standard rooms on the left and right. No, this hotel has a unique layout and decor. That makes it special and that belongs to a town with a special history. The breakfast room is beautiful, with lots of marble, generously draped heavy curtains and classic furniture. Not standard and boring at all. There is no arguing about taste. But at least it's special. And I love that. Breakfast is basic but good. Don't expect salmon, French cheeses etc. But it's probably more extensive than you're used to at home... It's also particularly nice that the hotel is very centrally located on a relatively quiet street. Could nothing improve? Yes, I do. Our laundry facilities had a bath. Great in itself; don't see so often anymore. However, many people prefer to shower. You can, standing in the bath, behind a shower curtain. In addition, a rubber mat in the bath would be nice, which reduces the chance of slipping.

Went for a 3 night stay in this hotel and would never stay there again, location is perfect, breakfast was ok but around the table had crumbs on the floor every day so wasn't swept also bedroom and bathroom was awful with bathroom and main room floor disgusting, bedding had holes in and stains, towels supplied had stains. Thus hotel is not recommended.

Too bad.

This weekend was a gift from our children. They had booked first, but reservation was not successful. After calling the hotel they make a second reservation with the visa card. Turns out the owner of the hotel booked two rooms. And there was nothing to be done... "Expensive gift" was his only and rather arrogant remark. Otherwise the hotel was anything but clean, say dirty and dirty, the TV did not work and stood on a towel to keep from falling over, .... A thorough renovation is highly recommended. Too bad, but arrogance is not what I'm looking for on a weekend getaway.

Ignore the bad reviews

Hotel location is fantastic with access to the Grote Square and all the local attractions, restaurants and bars within a minutes walk. Menin Gate is less than 5 minutes walk.
Room was comfortable and has plenty of air with the windows open.
Free parking is available with a 5-minute walk away. Parking is free on the street right outside on Saturday after 6PM and all-day Sunday
Breakfast was continental and very pleasant with an assortment bread, hams, cheese, boiled eggs and juices
My only negative is that the rooms could do with updating and decorating but that is only a minor negative
I would definitely stop here again

Pay in advance! Cancellation not possible!

They will immediately charge your credit card and cancelling is impossible! They refer to their conditions, but they are exceptional. For most hotels we had in Ypres, cancellation (sometimes with some fees) is possible. But not at this hotel. So think twice before you book here!
