Wonderful pousada
Extremely friendly service, great breakfast, beautiful house with lovely pool to cool off in, monkeys & garden tortoises. The pousada is easy to find & well located for exploring Olinda. There is functioning WIFI too! We had a room by the pool which was lovely.

ALL WOMEN - stay away
My boyfriend and I stayed in Sao Pedro pousada at the end of a three month trip traveling Brazil. I've never had an experience like this. There are three men working there, the owner his son and another man Sandro. The first two days were pleasant enough and the third night coming home I stayed on the couch downstairs and fell asleep to be woken by Sandro feeling me up. I pushed him away as he was grabbing me everywhere. I went upstairs to tell my boyfriend as I wanted to leave and was in tears. He went straight down to confront the owner and Sandro. We packed and went to another pousada down the road where we called the police with the owner there. They came and we went back to pousada Sao Pedro and Sandro the worker had fled. The police took his details but that was it. The owner knew perfectly well where he was hiding but wouldn't give him up as they are all very close and I am pretty sure Sandro was living there.
Like I say, this has never happened before and in the three months traveling in brazil I've never experienced anything like this. Men have been so respectful more so as I have a boyfriend. This is the only way I can advise people NOT TO STAY there. They are recommended in Lonely planet and I intend to write to them too. The police haven't done much and I leave brazil today hoping they will follow up on it. But who knows...

Enjoyed my stay
I´ve enjoyed my stay in the Pousada, everybody was nice and welcoming at all time.
I didn´t find it "as dirty" as written in some reviews.
Yes, I had indeed some bugs in my room but I think this is quite normal when you´re in a tropical place and you´re not in the Sheraton :)
Anyway I´ve resolved the problem buying a spray anti-insects, mostly to keep mosquitos far away. It worked, so no problem.
The breakfast was nice and the pousada is beautiful as it is the swimming pool surrounded by the nature (though the flowers and leafs that are fallinig inside could be removed, but not such a big deal!).
The only think I didn´t liked much was my room mainly because the window was without glass: so either close or open.
However I´ve seen that not all rooms are like that and the one by the swimming pool was also particularly nicely decorated. Mine was nothing to die and maybe slightly expensiveve for what it was, but I found Olinda in general more expensive than other cities in Brazil.
Having said all that, I def recommend Pousada Sao Pedro.

Nice and special but a bit overpriced
On the first view: Very lovely Pousada, very well located in the start of the old city, every sight in walking distance. Breakfast was great and Arantes, the housekeeper, is very friendly, very special and helpful and speaks several languages.
Pool in the garden is nice, but no relaxing chairs around, you can sit but you can't lie down.
We had the big room with roof terrace: great view, very special. But: It was not clean at all and forget the jaccuzi at the bathroom with panorama window. It has no hot water - and therefore doesn't make any sense. The room was charged 250 Reais. Yes, it has this lovely private roof deck with great view. But it was not really clean (and not cleaned enough after the first night) and pretty smelly, maybe because all the closets were filled with old clothes, toothbrushes from former guests, old shoes etc. That was not so nice.
In the end: good stay. But too expensive. Wifi in the room only worked now and than.

A good pousada
Stayed at this pousada during the world cup. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Our room was basic but clean. The communal areas are great and the garden beautiful. It does seem that some of the rooms desperately need updating. Breakfast is good and location perfect. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and all the places of interest are within walking distance. I'm not sure if this is the best place to stay for your money but I enjoyed the stay.
