Avoid unless fully aware

For most people, Rio is once in a lifetime, if at all. So you want it to be a good experience, even if your not excessively rich and don't want to stay at a five star hotel.
We traveled as backpackers with an infant and thus we need some space in our accomodation. We used booking(dot)com. The pictures there were much nicer. Big clean rooms. The particular room we booked, they called it "suite with 15sqm". However the room given to us was barely half the advertised size. Partly broken, non-usable furniture. Matresses of abismal quality which would have created some backpain for sure.
Best part is: as we cancelled our stay immediately, we were assured we would get a refund. But we didn't. They just kept saying they're not a hotel – and kept hostile.

Not recommended.

The room was small, but clean, although the door did not close unless locked. We were on the third floor, accessed by the narrowest and steepest of stairs. Just after our arrival, the property lost its water supply and we could not shower or go to the toilet. We were strung along about when the water might be reinstated. In the end, we explained that we would be cancelling our reservation and booking elsewhere. The manager/owner was evasive, obstructionist, and I feel, dishonest. We had to argue to get our money back, and it took over an hour and a half to process a refund. We could not wait to leave, and stayed in a far more pleasant establishment, where every assistance was offered, rather than attempting to make our life difficult.

Good location, tacky rooms

Stayed here for 3 nights.
Pro's
Cheap, close to the beach, close to the subway, plenty of options to eat close by.
Con's
Not once was the room cleaned in the 3 nights i was there, by the end of my stay, i had half the sand from Copacabana on my floor.
The rooms are tacky, with old mattresses, in need of an upgrade, it did look like there was a lot of renovation work ongoing, so maybe this situation will improve.
Overall, it's good enough if your looking for somewhere cheap to stay whilst at Copacabana.

very dirty and smelly

i dont recommand stay here. i wasted my money. even i reserved suit room with privat bathroom, couldnt stay there. you can hear every sound from your next room and not so clean. many ants in the bathroom.
