Clean. Friendly. Would have been nice if other staff besides Walter spoke English but otherwise great service

Worst

I had a very disturbing experience at ibis Budget RJ Centro that future travelers should be aware of.
On 27 March 2026, during check-in at the hotel reception, my backpack was stolen from the lobby sofa inside the hotel premises. This was not outside or on the street — it happened within the reception area while I was actively checking in.
An official police report was filed with the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, which clearly confirms that the theft occurred inside the hotel, specifically in the reception area. I have attached a copy of the report (with personal details protected).
Some of my documents were recovered the following day by the police, but all valuable items — including electronics and personal belongings — remain missing, resulting in a significant financial loss.
What is most concerning is that an unauthorized individual was able to enter the hotel, take a guest’s belongings, and leave without any intervention. This raises serious questions about the level of security and monitoring in place at the property.
Despite multiple follow-ups, the hotel’s response has been disappointing and has focused more on shifting responsibility onto the guest rather than addressing the security lapse within their premises.
I strongly advise anyone staying here to be extremely cautious with their belongings, even inside the hotel reception area.

Air condition did not work, the first room I was given had a strong smell of mould, so I had to change. Breakfast was very simple, didn’t have much to offer. Staff was good.

This is a very basic hotel in an area not close to restaurants or shops. You need to Uber everywhere due to safety issues. Value for money is good though if you want cheap travel.

Disorder and mess

Good afternoon! I come through this message to register a complaint in the face of the situation found yesterday at the Ibis Hotel do Centro do Rio de Janeiro when making my check-in around 21h yesterday, September 28, 2025.
My name is Renata from Cecon Mosque and I am a frequent guest at the hotel.
When arriving yesterday at the Ibis, the lobby and restaurant were completely taken over by delegations of foreign athletes, identified, in principle, as members of the delegations of Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, etc. They were making the biggest rush, with loud music, screaming, dancing, poorly dressed girls, screaming, finally, a confusion.
I cost to be taken care of and to check in. Every hour a teenager came to the counter to interrupt my recording, and by the height of the sound, I almost had to scream to be heard by the attendant.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t have dinner because the restaurant was overwhelmed by the mess. The ground was filthy and the athletes took over the field. I had no conditions for other guests to enter the restaurant.
I had just arrived from a trip and wanted to have dinner at the hotel, but I couldn't. Luckily I took a barrel of cereal in the bag and had to settle with a natural sandwich sold at the reception.
There was no security to contain the mess and the staff at the hotel did NOTHING!! They just kept looking.
It is unfortunate and absurd that the hotel is permissive with this kind of behavior only because it was foreign delegations. If our youth behaved like this in their own countries would it be allowed?
Shouldn't the other guests be respected?
I felt deeply disrespected by the poorly educated athletes and especially by the Ibis hotel that should not allow this kind of behavior in their dependencies and maintain order and tranquility for ALL!!
If it wasn't early, I'd have looked for another place to stay overnight.
I stayed on the 9th floor and from there, if I opened the window, the noise down there was bothering.
I would like, in this way, to leave my complaint and dissatisfaction with the ibis hotel, as ALL guests without exception must follow the rules of education, silence and respect.
To verify, follow the videos.
Carefully.

Estimada Renata,
Conte conosco.
