Friendly, hospitable, safe

I went before the 2014 world cup. My two sisters and I were stranded at the Lapa Steps as we were scammed by a non-existant hostel address. Andre noticed we were stranded and told us to go to this safe hostel. We later found out it was run by him and his lovely family. He saved us and we ended up loving our hostel experience. Free wifi, free breakfast, and transportation to Copacabana Beach was provided. I highly recommend it!

Great hostel if you're on a budget!

Thank you Andre for the fantastic hospitality. This hostel is perfect if you would like to experience the real "Carioca" life in the favela. The area is not dangerous at all, don't believe anything people say. People are very warm and friendly in this area. The hostel is also a 15 min walk from the bus station and close to the airport.

Nightmare

This hostel is at the top of the hill in not so safe neighborhood. When we arrived, we didn't get what we booked. Instead of one night in private 4-bed room we got 3 separate beds in 2 different rooms with other people. It was time of carnival so we didn't have time to look for another hostel. Shared bathroom and bed were dirty. There were also mosquitoes and bed bugs. There are no airconditioner in the room so there was 40 degrees. The only good thing was the price but if you want to sleep in decent hostel, go somwhere else.

Muito bom!

Lugar agradável.
O pessoal recebe a gente super bem.
O proprietário melhora a cada dia o lugar para receber turista do mundo todo. Recomendo e em breve estarei retornando.
Preço excelente. Café da manhã bem caseiro, muito bom. E ainda tem espaço para quem quer tomar uma cerveja antes de sair ou dormir. Parabéns!
Para quem não se importa de andar, fica próximo a Rodoviária. Caminhando leva em torno de 15 minutos. O morro para chegar ao local e longo, mas o Rio está cheio deles, mesmo assim, vale a pena.

Hostel Rio Maravilla

Lo recomiendo para viajeros con poco dienero y pocas pretenciones, la ubicacion es lo mas interesante ya que vas a conocer un barrio bien autentico que a primera vista te va a parecer peligroso pero si uno sale a caminarlo va a encontrar unas vistas increibles y unos barcitos como el mirante 74 muy bonito muy buena gente el carioca, me canse de sacarle fotos a los trenes por las noches, buena ubicacion, el lugar no tiene mucho comfort ni hablar de aire acond, el desayuno zafa ahi, yo no estaba en el lugar mucho, lo use para dormir y bañarme. amable la atencion de los dueños andre y roxana
