Perfect vacation

The hotel is located on a sandy beach with a gradual entrance to the sea very suitable for children. The hotel room was small but clean, they changed the towels every day. Nice and friendly staff, tasty food and they offer gluten free food. Excellent holiday. We really enjoyed our vacation.

Unfortunately, our experience at Kaliakra Mare Hotel in Albena was very disappointing.
The rooms are small, and the furniture is clearly outdated. The upholstery is peeling and worn out, giving the impression that it has not been replaced or properly maintained for many years.
Cleanliness is the hotel's biggest weakness. We found spider webs in several areas, and the rooms appeared to be cleaned only superficially. The restaurant looked poorly maintained, and the level of hygiene was far below what we expected.
The restroom near the reception was in an unacceptable condition: dirty and with a strong urine smell that was very unpleasant. For a hotel that welcomes so many guests, this is simply unacceptable.
Overall, the value for money is very poor. We chose this hotel based on its presentation and reviews, but the reality was completely different. I have photos that support everything described in this review, and I sincerely hope the management takes these issues seriously so that future guests do not have the same experience.

I have never been so disappointed, especially considering the price we paid

Kaliakra Mare Hotel, Albena, Bulgaria – The hotel's location is excellent, right on the beachfront. The rooms are clean, although quite small, and unfortunately, that's where the positives end.
The food was shockingly poor and completely tasteless. It was cooked and presented in a very unappealing way. There was virtually no variety throughout our stay. The meat had an unpleasant smell, and the fish—when it was available—was clearly frozen, served as a steamed dish with spices. Even worse, leftovers from lunch appeared to be served again at dinner in a different form, such as breaded.
The salads were far from fresh. The cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce all looked and tasted as if they had been prepared hours earlier, seasoned, and left sitting in the heat. They were warm, soggy, and had a sour taste.
There were also many flies around and even on the food. Once a dish was gone, it was often not replenished.
I have never been so disappointed, especially considering the price we paid. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this hotel, nor to the Albena resort anytime soon.

Dream location right on the beach with a beautiful sea view, but significant weaknesses in food, service, and cleanliness.

The location of the hotel is undoubtedly the biggest plus. You leave the hotel and are practically right on the beach. The outdoor area is particularly beautiful: While sitting by the pool and having something to eat, one looks directly at the sea and hears the waves crashing. This backdrop creates a true vacation feeling.
Unfortunately, the hotel did not impress in many other areas. Upon check-in, we were greeted rather unfriendly with a baby and a toddler. The staff member at the reception seemed annoyed and was not very eager to make the stay pleasant from the start.
The food was the biggest disappointment for us. The selection was almost the same every day, and often one had the impression that the dinner was merely reheated from lunch. Out of seven days, there were only two when the dishes were freshly prepared and really tasted good. On the other days, much was burnt, tasted of old frying oil, or was not properly cooked. The daily grill offerings also provided little variety and usually consisted of just one dish. This was not always easy for families with small children.
Breakfast also failed to impress. Rolls were often already gone early and were not sufficiently replenished. During our entire stay, we did not receive a single roll. The fruit selection was mostly limited to whole apples and pears. Watermelons or honeydew melons were only available sporadically and were quickly gone. This is very unfortunate for families with small children.
While there were some friendly exceptions among the staff, the overall impression was one of disinterest and lack of service orientation. The bartender in the outdoor area stood out particularly negatively, as he repeatedly acted extremely unfriendly and gave the impression that guests were more of a burden than welcome. Large coffee mugs were regularly unavailable, forcing guests to often drink their coffee from paper cups. Small spoons were also often missing. The cleaning of the high chairs for children was not always done carefully.
Overall, the cleanliness was rather below average. There was a permanent puddle under the toilet in the room, apparently due to a leak. Many toilets in the hotel were heavily affected by urine scale. Additionally, our balcony was not cleaned even once during our entire stay, despite its direct location on the sandy beach.
The entertainment aspect was also disappointing. Although there was advertising for a children's disco and entertainment program, not a single children's disco took place during our week-long stay. Aside from a mascot that occasionally roamed with a photographer for paid photos, there was no noteworthy entertainment for children or adults.
Overall, this hotel primarily relies on its stunning location directly by the sea. However, the beautiful view and immediate proximity to the beach could not compensate for the numerous weaknesses in food, service, cleanliness, and the advertised leisure activities. For a four-star hotel, we had significantly higher expectations.

The worst accomodation we had.

Very nice location right next to the sandy beach. Rooms quite small and the cleanliness was absolutely terrible. I had to ask two times in one day for toilett paper and towels. After second asking we finally got those. The room was cleaned after 3 days but not properly nor the balcony.
I would not reccomend this accomodation, There are plenty of other hotels to stay.

Excellent location
