Local and friendly
On our arrival to this charming place we were welcomed in the extensive courtyard by the graceful owner. It turned out that the owner had once lived, not only in my homeland Norway, but in the same village for nine years.
We enjoyed a nice and healthy dinner made with local material. A lady demonstrated how to make a decorative Bulgarian bread - bread being such an important part of all Bulgarian ceremonies. Three ladies song folk songs for us. The host played the piano. The room was small but comfortable. The shower had plenty of very hot water. We slept well in this place with the window open and plenty of fresh air.
I loved the stay here and wish we could have spent a couple of days at the Villa.

Disappointed!
Place is beautiful,clean and cozy, but that's it.
The villa is very difficult to find, there are no signs or whatever which help you find it.
The rooms do not have private balcony, but are advertised that they have!
The breakfast starts from 09.00. Never saw breakfast, which starts so late. Breakfast is extremely poor, but it's advertised as excellent on booking.com. There were a little tomatoes and cucumbers, cheese and only one piece banitza/just one!/, not to talk about the coffee. This is not how "excellent" breakfast has to look like!
Food in the restaurant - bellow average, but very well priced

Quiet and peaceful place to escape for a few days
Quiet and peaceful place to escape for a few days, with great cuisine with some remarks of mine. For couples and families with children the rooms could be larger. The walls are thin enough and all kind of sounds could be heard - children crying, talking in the next room. But all the rooms are beautifully vintage style decorated. On each floor there is a common terrace and this slightly disturbs the privacy. The bed linen needs to be renewed. The garden is wide, with lots of greenery, a small spa, there is parking in front of the hotel. Convenient place for group holidays or for a day stay. The hosts are infinitely kind and hospitable.

Cosy, clean, quite
I stayed here together with my family for three nights. The house is located in a quite village surrounded by hills. Food was delicious and healthy [made with local ingredients], room was spacious [we had an extra bed for our 13 yo daughter], clean and nicely decorated. I especially appreciated the attention to details at almost everything. The owner [the lady of the house] is very friendly with a genuine kindness.

Expensive
The services offered were below expectations. We chose this boarding house first of all for food, which in the presentation on the booking would be eco / bio. 2 adults and one child of 6 years, we stayed for 3 nights, but we were disappointed from the first night. There were no slippers in the room, bathrobes (the reason being that they were crowded and forgotten). Before bedtime, when we had to take a shower to our boy, the hot water was not. On the third evening, back after a grueling day, with the thought of having dinner at the hostel, there was no electricity, we needed to go 15km to Shumen to eat. It was not useful to remind our guests that the group of Romanians who had been staying there had done it and solved the problem with a barbecue. Breakfast was every day the same, no trace of eco / bio. Maybe only the jam and the donuts. We expected to find many homemade dishes. The food offered at the hostel was expensive and not extraordinary. We ate in Shumen at much more affordable prices. I requested accommodation in a room (junior suite) of 25 square meters, but I do not think it was more than 15-17 square meters, for which we paid 360 leva (about 180 euros). On departure we were only asked for money, no discount or wine / jams offered as I read in other reviews. The room was provided with a sofa bed (damaged) that slept very badly. Apart from the quiet of the area and a beautiful courtyard, I would not recommend this hostel. Our son loved the yard. It's not worth more than 40-45 euros per night. (breakfast included)

as an owner it is really sad to receive such a review from any of our guests.
As you can notice I have never answer an review before, but now I feel like I have to.
I am really sorry about the problem with the water and electricity / which was fixed after half hour/ , but it was a problem of the Municipality. The choose to travel to Shumen is yours and If you like to explore the near city we are fine with your decision. Otherwise we were ready to prepare for you dinner.
Rooms are not big , but that was the best we could do after a fully renovation of an old village farm.
From your review I get the idea that you are not familiar with policy of an 3* hotel. The machine coffee is not included in breakfast as in 4* and 5* hotels, that is why we have provided for our guests instant coffee and variety of tea for free.
That reminds me that your bills for morning coffees are still open , in other word not payed. So after all your coffees were free.
About breakfast you didn't mention homemade banica , homemade salty donuts, homemade jams , eco milk and cheese, omelettes
with eco eggs, boiled eggs etc.
Unfortunately our geographical location is not appropriate for growing oranges, other wise we were ready to provide for you fresh juice from the garden. This is the reason why we buy orange juice from one of the best and certified suppliers.
As a conclusion I would like to say that I am familiar with the fact that I can not for fill all the expectations of our guests, but me and my employees will keep on doing our best and put all the affords that are need because all the guests that have decide to spend their free few days , or holiday or occation in Villa Bulgara eco are voting us their trust and we will not disappoint them in any case.
