Great small hotel in the heart of Plovdiv!

My stay in the hotel was just great. Clean nice room with all comfort needed. Good bed, good shower, good wifi... Very good location in Plovdiv. Mitko is very welcoming and charming. He made me feel very welcome and gave a lot of tips.
The breakfast was really tasteful, prepared with care and love.
I will for sure go back!
Highly recommended!

Book it!

Don’t even think of going elsewhere. The hotel is spotless, very comfortable and central to the sights, but the main draw is Mitko, the owner. He the man! Nothing’s a problem - he will sort it. Master sommelier/chef and a great raconteur.

A hotel with a personal touch - perfect!

The owner is everything in this hotel. A wonderful person who gives a wonderful hospitality. Breakfast very good with excellent coffee. Situated in a perfect position in town so very easy for trips in the old city.

Pristine, comfortable hotel with welcoming, knowledgeable owner

I have just spent two nights in Roots hotel as part of a trip to learn more about Bulgarian wine (I am a professional wine writer). The name of the hotel betrays the owner's professional background - he is a highly qualified sommelier who spent decades living and working in Canada
The rooms are spacious, bright and spotlessly clean. The beds are extremely comfortable and I slept very well. Mitko made delicious omelettes for breakfast and has a high-end coffee machine -to help us get over the early starts and 2 hour time difference.
But Mitko himself is the true selling point of this hotel. He is a local, has spent years in the hospitality industry and knows exactly where to eat, drink, shop and visit in Plovdiv and beyond. We had the pleasure of trying some of his mother's home made wine (which was really excellent) - apparently she makes her own cheese and jam too - a talented family.
The location of the hotel is ideal for sightseeing. There is a small shop/café-bar on the corner of the street which is open early. The old town and pedestrian street are both minutes away -but the neighbourhood is very quiet -no rowdy party-goers in bars to keep you awake at night. Highly recommended -I look forward to my next visit

Really Nice Hotel In A Great Location

We stayed here for 4 nights during our 5 week trip thru Bulgaria & Serbia. The host of the hotel cannot do enough for you and spent quite a it of time explaining the layout of Plovdiv for us. He even took us on a trip to a monastery for a very reasonable price.
Our room was spacious and clean. We were the only guests in the hotel except for one night as a result, the breakfast was a little hit and miss. He tried really hard to provide a satisfying breakfast and we never went hungry.
I am really fussy and don't very often give 5 stars so don't read much negativity in this. If I went back to Plovdiv, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The location is right on the edge of old own, less than 5 minutes from the ancient theatre.
