Awful experience for Christmas 2024
We flew off with great excitement on the 21st of December, eager to spend a family Christmas skiing & enjoying the resort facilities. We are a family of 10 ( 5 adults and 5 kids. ) Our plan was to use the shuttle service to get to Borovets & back for skiing. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be far from pleasant.
First, I’ll acknowledge that the snowfall was reportedly unusually high during our stay. However, the way the resort handled the situation was appalling.
From the moment we arrived, things went downhill. We had no electricity or water for extended periods, leaving us feeling completely trapped in the complex. Basic services were non-existent, and there was no clear communication from the management about how they intended to address these issues or ensure guest safety and comfort.
The shuttle service was an absolute disaster. After numerous complaints, we were told that the situation would be rectified by adding another bus to the service. That turned out to be a blatant lie. One night, over 20 of us were left standing in freezing weather waiting for a bus that never came. Even if it had, the bus could only carry 10 people at most. Booking over 20 guests for the same time slot during such extreme weather was not just irresponsible—it was dangerous.
Adding to our frustration, the pool and spa facilities were rarely open. When we asked reception about it, they assured us it would open at 11 a.m., but this never happened. It felt like a recurring theme of broken promises and a complete lack of accountability.
The accommodations themselves were cold due to a lack of heat caused by frequent power outages. On Christmas night, we had no electricity & no candles to light our chalet. We had to go to reception to ask for tea lights, which they eventually provided, but this should have been handled proactively. With no way to charge our phones for use as torches, we were left in complete darkness. While there was a fire, it was nowhere near sufficient to heat the entire chalet.
General maintenance also seemed to be a low priority, adding to the overall discomfort. Regardless of what the managers said, they didn't clear the paths around the chalets or the roads properly knowing it was quite remote. I watched the lack of clearing and so did the other residents so you can only tell so many lies about that. Given the circumstances, the least the resort could have done was ensure the comfort of guests stuck on the premises, but even that was too much to ask.
Overall, what was meant to be a joyful Christmas holiday turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. While we understand that weather conditions can be challenging, the resort’s inability to manage these challenges effectively showed a lack of care and professionalism.
We would not recommend this resort to anyone planning a trip to Borovets. Poor management, inadequate facilities, broken promises, and an unreliable shuttle service made our stay memorable for all the wrong reasons. We were so glad to leave.
This may have been a one off but believe me it ruined our Christmas.

Enjoyable stay, great chalet, great size
The chalet is privately owned, Mark the owner has been brilliant. Really helpful and reassuring, he was very accommodating and really tried hard to ensure our first ski trip went to plan. Always communicated well with me, and offered advice when it was needed- Thankyou mark !!!
It was our first skiing holiday, and we went with another family, we had a party of 10 (6 children and 4 adults) the 2 younger kids stayed on blow up beds in the adult rooms - which isn’t ideal, but it worked out fine, and they were happy enough.
The older kids had their own rooms and was happy with their rooms.
The chalet had everything you needed to ensure a pleasant stay.
It was plenty big enough, and didn’t feel crammed in the communal area.
We ate at the on site restaurant - which was terrible. Firstly we were 2 chairs short, and stood up for the Majority of the meal- we had to share with the younger ones when the food arrived. We got served raw chicken with 2 meals (chicken burger / chicken nuggets) and the rest of the meals were inedible. We left half way through, and didn’t get served a chicken meal, and didn’t want to finish off any meals as a result.
The owner wanted us to pay for the meals that weren’t uncooked and drinks. He asked us to leave and come back so the other customers didn’t notice. After debates we agreed to pay for the drinks only and to pay before we leave. The owner was very rude, and didn’t seem bothered that he served us raw chicken.
As a result the mum was unable to ski the next day due to spending most of her day back and forth to the toilet. Which was a shame and spoilt it for her, the owner was not apologetic and was only bothered about us paying for the drinks !
The other facilities - pool, sauna and hot tub were great- the kids enjoyed a night there, they were very strict about jumping in the pool.
The games room was good- there were plenty of arcades if you wanted to play.
The shuttle bus was fine. You needed to make sure you booked and was on the ball with it- otherwise all the slots got filled up pretty quick and with 10 people you couldn’t leave it till last minute.
The manager offered us a discount if we came back and booked directly through them - which is good, but if we came back we might look at staying somewhere More central. The kids could have done with a little break during skiing to chill out so would have been nice to have the opportunity to go and chill out during the day.

Great value, comfortable spot
Chalet itself had stunning views to the mountains and really clean and well equipped but marked down for living room furniture- only 2 small couches- needed at least one more for comfort. Also beds were very creaky!
The staff on the complex were all really helpful- thank you! Used the pool and sauna twice.

Apartments not up to scratch
The bathroom drains often smell very badly on a daily basis.
The pool is heated but feels pretty cold and is one depth all over, far too deep for my young kids to play in without clinging onto myself and my wife the entire time.
The hotel itself is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. The bus drivers to and from the hotel don’t speak any English and aren’t particularly helpful and are often flippant about timings.
Overall I think the place could do with an update with some thought into the needs of the guests.

The pool is heated to the recommended temperature of 29-30 degrees and is regulated by a thermostat. Kids must be supervised at all times in the pool area.
Our shuttle bus drivers have a basic level of English but unfortunately it can be very difficult to find drivers in the area with a good command of the English language.
These apartments are all privately owned and are decorated & furnished according to owner's tastes so each apartment varies a little. If you book with us directly and let us know if you have any specific requirements for an apartment we would be happy to help and offer you the most suitable apartment or chalet for your stay.
