A good place to stay with clean rooms and helpful, friendly staff.

A good place to stay with clean rooms and helpful, friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant most nights and enjoyed the food - needed to place our food order an hour in advance, but always arrived on time (and the staff phoned our rooms to tell us it was ready if we weren't at the table). Rooms on the pool side avoid the road noise of front facing rooms - corner rooms are larger. There is music at the pool every evening but it stops around 10pm so did not disturb our sleep. Enjoyed swimming in the pool.

The hotel has gone downhill since my last visit

I have to say this hotel has really gone downhill since my last visit in December 2020 (don't be fooled by the photos). I thought things would've improved, but to the contrary, it's even worse! The internet doesn't work, the TV didn't work, the rooms are shabby, the restaurant and pool need to be cleaned up, the whole building needs a paint job, the gym is closed for repairs (no idea when it will be open), and the service is slow (two hours for room service)! They even changed the name to 'New Star Hotel' to try and improve their image but there is no real change.....sorry this is really negative review. The positive thing is the staff are friendly, but most Burundians are that way, they just incapable of improving things so I think it is a management issue.

Nice hotel without internet or television.

The hotel looks pretty from the outside, right in the middle of town, and even has a swimming pool. The room is large and reasonably well furnished. I put a friend up there.
The first experience at reception: no payment by credit card.
The second: no internet! Despite assurances that it would be repaired immediately, nothing happened for two days.
The third: the television didn't work.
That alone is enough to rate the hotel as inadequate.
It seems that no effort was made to restore the internet. It was our only means of communication.
My friend could only use the internal WIFI for a few minutes at a time. That wasn't enough, but there's a second point for the effort.
I'm sorry, friends, that's not how it works!

Affordable and Comfortable

Stayed there in October 2014, I enjoyed my stay especially the friendly and helpful staff who actually went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Clean and spacious rooms. I especially enjoyed swimming in the large pool which was kept constantly clean. Good Wi-Fi connection in all areas.The food was good but they should figure a way of getting rid of the myriad flies in the dining area next to the pool.
Negative - there should be designated changing rooms at the pool as there is some confusion when everybody changes in one room (adults and kids). Designated (marked) changing rooms are really necessary.
English TV channels are very limited, mainly french (Canal), very boring for english speakers
Otherwise a nice and friendly hotel, I would go back to when in Bujumbura

First class service

Stayed here for one night, and was very impressed with the staff attitude and helpfulness. The rooms are quite large and my standard room had a balcony and generous bathroom.
There's a pool and the breakfast bar overlooks this, also a gym and lounge area.
