Great unique ambience, transport yourself to another time and world

I absolutely loved staying here, I felt I was transported into another world and time. Our room was huge and had such character. Be aware, this is a truly unique experience, there are some quirks with the electrics and the plumbing. Also, due to the unique nature of this hotel, it is not good for people who have issues with stairs, although there are rooms on ground level that might be fine. We had an amazing breakfast, lots of options and lots to eat to get you set up for the day, and we also ate a very nice dinner here. The pool was absolutely brilliant, would have liked to spend more time there.

Pure contemporary history

Originally built in 1933, the villa served as the private residence of a general of the French colonial forces. The original furnishings and furnishings have largely been preserved and offer a vivid insight into the home decor of well-heeled circles of the pre-war period. You can literally experience contemporary history firsthand. The staff is very helpful.
However, there are criticisms. First, the plugging device of the bathtub was broken, so you cannot let water into the bathtub. The breakfast tomorrow was much too sparse: from a 4-star hotel you expect something else.

Old charm in Battambang

Lovely old French colonial hotel, huge rooms with air cond. Restaurant on premise. Staff wonderful so accommodating. Great location

Quality Old World Charm and Hospitality

I booked this hotel online and found the communication responsive friendly and accurate. Prior to arrival I received a message offering a pick up service from the bus station. The hotel is amazing. Very old but quaint and oozing with old world charm and hospitality. The most relaxing experience no pressure but plenty of assistance if required. Breakfast offerings were plentiful. Highly recommend a front room with balcony overlooking the river. My only comment would be the lack of an option for a bright light when needed. But otherwise it exceeded my expectations and will definitely return on my next visit to Battambang

We moved hotels rather than spend one night there due to cleanliness issues and broken bathroom fitting

It’s with regret I write this review as the staff were lovely but I think it’s important to leave honest feedback. We were initially given a huge room on the first floor reached by a stair case next to the bar area in the main building. We usually stay in 5 or 6 star hotels but would have happily stayed in this property is it hadn’t been for the:
Broken toilet in the ensuite - seat broken and sliding off plus very weak flush that just didnt seem to do the trick and empty the bowl no matter how much you held down the button
Tap not working (no water) and a big crack in the en-suite bathroom basin
General dirt in the bathroom inc a grubby bath, filthy grout, dirty accessories
No shower, just a hand held shower attachment on the bath without a wall fixture
Stains on the day bed covers
Dirty light switches with uncovered (insulated) electrical wires showing
Gloomy dark room with dim lights unless you opened the outside shutters which meant a lot of road noise
A musty smell
We asked if there were other rooms but nothing we were shown was much better. We opted temporarily for a smaller but brighter lighter annex room on the ground floor next to the pool with a shower but then found brown (looked like incontinence or blood stains) all over the mattress topper of the bed and the en-suite bathroom was quite grubby and smelled of urine.
We’ve stayed in other heritage hotels before including Le Relais de Cchlong a few days earlier and understand vintage can show time worn charm but all the things dirty and broken were not original fixtures or fitting or part of the vintage decor.
Our tour operator moved us to a different hotel so we didn’t have to stay more than a couple of hours.
