Romantic, period-authentic, green oasis

BEAUTIFUL and charming are the top words that come to mind when I think back of our experience at Relais de Chhlong.
The beautiful architecture and garden plus the amazing view of the Mekong River, with fine interior details in the room and all corners of this place, make a perfect place to unwind, relax and rejuvenate.
There's lots of activities to do and I suggest at least 3nights stay.
I visited twice, the small flea market which opens so early in the morning, perfect for me as I'm an early riser! I bought fresh fruit juices there!
I explored the village with a bicycle, after doing my morning yoga routine.
They helped arrange a kayaking tour in the flooded forests in Kratié where you can spot the dolphins... awesome!
We stayed in probably the best room they have - No1, with a grand view of the Mekong River! I slept like a log, very comfy bed and pillows... and it has a huge bathroom!
I would definitely come back when I get the chance.

Charming hotel.

We were simply captivated by the building in the middle of this garden. Colonial house with a history, restored with taste and attention to detail. The decoration is well thought out, it feels like a leap into the past. Period music in the background. The garden is nice, the pool well integrated. The rooms are large, well appointed, decorated in accordance with the rest of the premises, the bathroom is lovely. Bicycles available. Small flats: It takes 50 minutes of tuk tuk to get to Kratié, 35 dollars. The restaurant's dishes could be improved, tastier (considering everything we enjoyed during our month in Cambodia, it's underneath), the portions are a little thin. That's a shame. No other dining alternative around.
Biggest downside: 2 roosters wander in the gardens and sing from 3:30 under our windows. We had to insist that the manager do something. What is the use of such a charming place if you can't sleep???? A small problem also with the staff who speak no or too little English. This leads to communication difficulties. However special mention to Vaesna! Indeed, it is everywhere, from the service to the restaurant, to the reception to the bar. She handles all the difficulties, runs everywhere from morning to night. Congratulations to her!

Wonderful step

What a wonderful step in our journey through Cambodia!
We enjoyed this peace and serenity in this carefully renovated colonial setting.
We spent two very pleasant days. Relaxing and resourceful address.
Yes the rooster sings early but calms down at nap time.
A beautiful gem in an equally welcoming village.
Thank you for the bikes loan that allowed us a beautiful ride along the Mekong.

The room was well cleaned and well maintained. The staff provided excellent assistance. There is nothing more we could have asked for. All food was very good and freshly prepared. Highly recommended.

Best hotel in Chhlong

The hotel is housed in the former French governor’s residence. It’s a lovely building, with a number of elegantly furnished suites. The vibe is of a 1920s house party, complete with evening wear available to borrow (no one did). There’s a good size pool (unheated) and the restaurant serves good food. Breakfast on the first day was disappointing, as there had been a group staying and they did a buffet, with fried eggs kept warm; but they provided fresh eggs when asked, and breakfast was much better on subsequent days. The manager arranged transport for a trip to Kampi to see dolphins, and he arranged our minibus transport to Kampong Thom when we left. We were due to have an early pickup, so we were given breakfast boxes to take with us.
