If heaven exists, it does

We stayed at Sleeping Trees three nights: it was like living in paradise. The staff is very kind, relaxed and always ready to help you with a smile. The food is great: especially recommended grilled fish. Also excellent facilities, although rustic are well designed and built. Falling asleep and waking up directly by the sea to the sound of waves on the beach is an incomparable thrill. On the same beach there is also an agency (Sunset Adventures) that offers bioluminescent plankton tours and other activities at great prices. Otherwise life at Sleeping Trees is more than enough to plan a holiday in Koh Rong Samloem. Thanks for everything! Merci!

Toxic garbage smell

Yes nice place but overrated and priced food. Get your bookings clear otherwise you will get kicked out! Big shame local resort owners burn all plastic garbage so if the wind lets down sunset beach smells like foul toxic garbage heap giving you a headache.

Rude staff, really unwelcoming atmosphere - avoid.

We stayed in the teepee which was nice, got messed around at first as they said they had doubled up bookings and couldn’t accommodate us, then realised that they could so we got showed our tent. Which was nice and functional. Find it odd that the standard camping tents are placed in front of the teepees so the beach view is spoilt, when you pay much more for a teepee. However the beach is beautiful and the location is great. The only thing that ruins this place is the staff. And I really mean ruins, to the point where you feel uncomfortable. The staff members are so cold and inhospitable, look at you like you’re crazy when you ask for something, and make you feel like you’re intruding on their private home, except for the local Cambodian staff members, who seemed embarrassed by the owners behaviour. Many reviews have said the same so I recommend you avoid this place and try another, there is so much competition on Sunset beach there’s no point going to these rude people.

Definitely recommendable, unique beach!

We were looking for a quiet and relaxing stay on koh rong samloem and found this definitely at sleeping trees on sunset beach. Coming from sihanoukville you have to take a boat to saracen bay and from there walk a 30-40minutes jungle trek which is also very beautiful. When you arrive the owners are really welcoming and helping you with everything. At the end we stayed for 6 nights in that time we slept in the tipi and in the bungalow. Both are very comfortable and clean. Also the shared bathroomms (if you are sleeping in the tipi) are very clean so are the private bathrooms in the bungalow.
There are no atms on the islands but at sleeping trees its possible to pay online and even get cash out in case you are running out of cash.
Every evening the owners are serving the meal of the day which is western and khmer food. During our stay we ate there every evening and the dinners were always delicious.
In addition to that the sunset beach is really unique. When the weather is stormy there can be much plastic on the beach coming from the sea but they are cleaning it really fast.
All in all the prices are a little but higher due to the position of sleeping trees on the islands but its definitely worth it and we had a great time!

AVOID - They are doing wrong bookings!

Avoid the Sleeping trees because they operate a dodgy system. You book a tepee and when you arrive there after a long walk in the jungle, they say it's full and throw you in the tree tent.
My wife and I booked a tepee for 3 nights.
When we checked in, the manager called Fred told us that Agoda indicated for him that our booking was a tree tent instead of a Tepee as per our booking confirmation.
We showed him our invoice, but he said that our tepee was already booked by another customer for that night and that it was not his fault.
He was blaming Agoda for not making a distinction between the tree tent and the tepee. He also told us that this problem happens every day and that the price of both type of accommodations was the same.
BUT, that’s a Lie as you can see for yourself on Agoda. The tepee is double the price as it’s much better! It has a bed, fan, towels, water, and toiletries.
We told him that this was not true, and that we paid more, so we requested he paid back the difference, but he refused!
So, we ended up sleeping the first night at the Tree tent, and the other two on the tepee.
So, basically, we paid for one type of accommodation and receive an inferior one.
The zipper at the bottom of the tent was broken, which was annoying because things can fall down.
It’s difficult to sleep as a couple because it’s shaky!
It had sand as the tent was not properly cleaned.
Our luggage had to stay in the wooden box outside the tent.
Anyway…
Another couple got the same problem on that same day. They booked a tepee and they had to stay for two nights in the tree tent.
On the next day, we spoke to an elderly couple, who had to stay for the night on the tree tent even though they booked a tepee.
So, they have this “problem” every day and they don’t do anything to sort this out!? Strange…
If you book a tepee with the Sleeping Trees, be aware that you may have to sleep as a money in the trees.
Amazing beach, amazing sunset, but worst experience as a customer ever!
