We had a great stay at SoonNoeng resort. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were amazingly kind and helpful, food was excellent, pool and beach were lovely. Very convenient location beside the pier for ferry access. Be aware that it is a 15-20 minute walk down the beach for any other restaurant or store, but it is a beautiful walk on the beach.

Oct 2025 - be warned that they are building a pool (which will be amazing once completed!) but is currently a building site so very noisy during the day. Also your view from a ‘sea view’ villa will be very compromised!!
The staff were very understanding and sorted an alternative day to the other side of the island on Lazy Beach (which is beautiful!).
Clean room, good breakfast, right by the jetty for ferry. So much to like if it wasn’t for the building noise!
Shame that no one seems to bother to want to clean up the washed up plastic along the beach front of the bay - this would make such a difference.
Next door is Paradise which is great for cocktails & dinner.
I recommend Soonnoeng with caution at the time of writing. Once complete the pool will make it fantastic!

The hotel is close to the pier, so you don’t need to go anywhere from there. The hotel has different kinds of rooms, we stayed in a sea view villa which had a nice view. However I didn’t like the interior and the bathroom. Bathroom has a window in the roof which is not covered and geckos and insects can come in without any difficulty. When you finish taking a shower, water stays on the floor for a very long time.
The hotel has sunbeds and it’s nice that you can have a rest in front of your villa, that’s what I liked the most. Breakfast is limited in food choices: eggs, rice, vegetables, noodles, toasts and fruits - everyday it is the same, quite boring.
There is almost nothing around the hotel, even if you want to buy some water after 23:00 you can’t do it. The nearest hotel is closed, the reception of this hotel is closed too. A walk to the closest shop is 20 minutes by the beach

I recently stayed at this hotel and found that while it has some positive aspects, there is definitely room for improvement.
The biggest advantage is its great location, which made it easy to explore the area. The rooms, although quite old, were at least clean and well-maintained. However, the service felt a bit distant and not particularly warm, which made the stay less welcoming than expected.
One major downside was that the rooms are very poorly soundproofed. I could hear noise from the beach and neighboring rooms.
The breakfast buffet had a decent selection, but unfortunately, some of the food was cold when it should have been hot. This was a bit disappointing.
Overall, the hotel is okay for a short stay, but with some renovations and improved service, it could be much better.
