An unspoilt place of beauty
Pros
Beautiful setting and beach, amazing food, we ate at one other place but the food at Sunboo was so much better we ate all of our remaining meals there.
Great coffee from the water sports guys next door
Very calm, a perfect place to relax and unwind.
Cons
The bed was really uncomfortable which impacted our sleep, this was the only negative.
Room for improvement- I thought that it may be nice for it to be a bit more friendly / communal. I think it could be quite isolating for solo travellers. Maybe a ‘family table’ or a ‘family style meal’ evening would be nice for people to meet each other if they wanted to.

Idyllic beach with warmest staff and special vibe
We just spent three days in this very special place. The beach itself is magical - white sand Fri ged by palm trees and the clearest azure sea. Weather was unsettled when we were there with storms and rain but we still had some of the best swims of our life. What makes it is the people - Cory and Paolo lead a fantastic closeknit team who combine supreme attentiveness (endless chilled water before you even ask) with a lively laidback warmth. Guests feel like family for their stay. And the food is knockout / ssi fresh, plentiful (shout out to the spicy clam soup and squid in green peppers). Wish we could have stayed longer - memorable.

Beautiful sunsets and warmest hosts!
We absolutely loved our stay at Sunboo! Paolo, Cory and Nadia are so attentive to anything you need and pay attention to the smallest of details. Food is great… would highly recommend the tuna crostini, clams in spicy sauce and the homemade brownie and icecream. The atmosphere on sunset beach is relaxing and all the resorts are very cooperative and supportive of each other. We were given recommendations of what to eat at other places as well. We stayed on one of the sea facing bungalows and they were great!
My favourite part of the resort was the lovely dogs and cats of sunboo :) if you are lucky Mala will even sing some tunes for you

A haven of peace
A haven of peace.
The whole team is exceptional (Paulo, Corey, Hiro...). Always with the care.
You immediately feel part of the sun boo family.
The atmosphere is conducive to relaxation, to letting go. No network, no wifi and it feels good.
Corry teaches exceptional yoga classes (1 2-hour class offered with room reservation)
Hiro’s coktails are worth a visit, the restaurant is very good.
The bungalow is comfortable, there is everything you need inside (no hot water but it is quickly forgotten in this paradise where it is 34 degrees and the sea water is 32).
The walk to get there is a bit sporty, you have to allow 30 minutes on a fairly steep terrain at the end. Don't take any suitcases.
The hardest part is leaving this wonderful place.

A great visit to Sunset Beach on KRS
Definitely a great place to stay on Koh Rong Samloem. The walk across the island from Saracen Bay to Sunset Beach took about 30-minutes with the last part being very rocky and steep -- when we arrived we were greeted by our host with some lemonade to cool off. Sunset Beach is beautiful and our accommodations were comfortable and clean. They offer free drinking water in glass bottles during your stay. The food and cocktails were very delicious so I recommend eating here.
For those concerned about the islands being ruined by development as of Nov 2024 it has not reached Sunset Beach so don't let that deter you from visiting. They created dirt roads for construction purposes throughout the islands about 1-year ago but little has happened since then. Most of the development seems to be centered in Saracen Bay and I didn't see that much of it.
