Home away from home

More like a home away from home rather than a hotel, with cosy rooms carrying the old world charm. The ladies maintaining the property are hugely cooperative, welcoming and attend to guest needs. Breakfast is sumptious and the menu is different each day. While there is no restaurant, the dining room has tea/coffee service all day. There is a fridge and microwave for use. The view from the room is incredible. Each room has a name of the iconic mountains of the Canmore. Location is excellent. The bus stand for Banff 300m walk. The place is always full. Best to book in advance to avoid dissapointment. Highly recommended for those seeking a quiet and homely stay.

Nice size room with chairs, desk, and electric fireplace. Comfortable bed. Room was very warm with no AC but able to open patio door to cool down the room before bed. Enjoyed the breakfast and hot tub. Good location overall. Only disappointment was the “resort fee” they added to the price I reserved in hotels.com (about $100 CAD). I asked what this fee covered and the response was “nothing extra, just a fee added when not booked directly “. Otherwise I would have given a 5 star.

Do not recommend

Reviews on here do not match our experience at all! I like most people I very rarely review unless I have had a very good experience or a very bad - this was very bad. Had to remove our shoes to enter property and carry heavy suitcases upstairs without any offer of assistance, very tired worn out interior with marks and dents in walls - our room was tiny with a toilet and bath shower in a small cubical which had been painted and then had cracked all around the edge of the bath and then weirdly a separate sink in the bedroom which had cracked down the middle and been fixed with a brown plaster - just seemed bizarre to be told to remove shoes to enter an establishment which was by far the worst we stayed in our whole trip to Canada and badly needed to address basic essentials, it was very hot when we stayed and we had a choice of opening the window which had a fly cover to stop mosquitos or use a very large and dusty air conditioning unit and put the large hose out of the window without the mosquito cover - so we just had the windows open with the fly cover and remained uncomfortably hot. Breakfast is no choice I didn’t bother given the state of the ‘hotel’my husband did try it and felt nauseous afterwards. This is at best a glorified B&B and in no way worth the 200-300 being charged per night

Enjoyed the hot tub in a fabulous backdrop of gloriousness! Breakfast was great and all the healing tea options were such a delight!

The rooms are clean and well decorated. The staff was friendly and cared about us enjoying our stay. A homemade hot breakfast was included.
