Tranquility and peace with nature at the Glome

Exceptional experience at the Glome. You’ll have your own barbecue grill and hot tub ! There’s a cozy atmosphere inside the Glome, with a fireplace, kitchenette and fridge! The tranquil view of the lake made is so relaxing and peaceful! It was an overnight stay made wonderful with great weather, walk by the beach, sounds of the ocean and tasty breakfast with choice of buffet or set menu! The exceptional staff hospitality needs to be mentioned! Thank you Jenna and Tusha! We will surely be back !

Lovely location - disappointed with sewer smell

We travelled to White Point Resort for one night (family of four), staying in an older cottage. Checking in was a little slow. There was no one ahead of me and at least three people behind the front desk looked at me without saying a word. A cleaning lady had to go to the room behind and ask someone to come out. The attending lady was less than cordial. I felt like I was interrupting her - no hello, enjoy your stay etc. The grounds are absolutely lovely with all the bunnies and stunning scenery! (the reason for a three rating). The septic smell coming from the toilet in our cottage was unbearable! Keeping the lid down and bathroom door closed helped a little but it was still very strong. I made comments regarding this on my check-out survey and no one has responded. I didn't try to move as I figured it was a widespread septic issue. Upon review of Trip Advisor this is a long term problem going back at least six years. If it were my resort there is no way I would rent such a cottage to anyone. They know there is a problem and it appears they have not addressed it. I hope they get this fixed soon as it is a lovely location. My sister noted the washroom in the main building smelled bad as well. :(
The dining experience was good with respect to the food and drinks. Our waitress brought us our bill to rush us out. We were enjoying live music, which was on until 11 pm. At 10:30 pm, she came over to give us the bill. Mind you we were the only ones in the restaurant so once we were gone I expect they were packing up for the night.

Not the cabin we expected

After hearing so many positive things about White Point, we finally decided to give it a try. Looking back, I wish I had done some research. I didn’t realize it’s primarily a family resort so all amenities were flooded with children. If that’s what you’re looking for, it offers plenty to do. If you’re looking for a quiet cabin getaway, there are better options.
The beach is beautiful, but that’s not unique on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. What disappointed me was the accommodation. We stayed in one of the cabins, and at roughly $350 a night, there was nothing about it that reflected that price. The furniture was dated, the floors were worn, the bathroom felt pieced together, and overall it looked like a cabin that hadn’t been meaningfully updated in years. It wasn’t dirty, but nothing that old ever feels clean.
The cabin experience itself also wasn’t what I expected. The cabins are packed closely together with very little privacy. People regularly walk just a few feet from your windows and deck, you can hear conversations from neighbouring cabins, and it felt much more like staying in a campground cabin than a cabin retreat.
We enjoyed the restaurant, but that’s a separate expense from the accommodation. One small example that summed up the experience for me was the grab-and-go coffee. We paid $5 for a cappuccino to go, and it came from an automatic machine but only filled the cup halfway. It wasn’t a big issue on its own, but it reflected the overall feeling that the experience didn’t match the price being charged.
I’ve stayed at cabins throughout Nova Scotia, and that’s where my disappointment comes from. There are many places that offer a much better cabin experience for similar, or even less money. White Point has a beautiful beach and is likely a great destination for families with young children, but for anyone looking for a peaceful cabin getaway, I don’t think it offers good value for the price

Great location, cabins are shacks, furnishing is bizarre.

Booked a specific cabin as per map (email stated that specific cabin) then moved for reasons they could not explain to a different cabin. They did confirm we were booked as per email, but someone moved us for reasons they could not explain. Original not available. Were comped one night free, so that was something. The furnishings are simply bizarre for a “luxury resort”, see below. Cabins are shacks, sparsely furnished, not terribly clean, cracked windows, cracked sinks, cobwebs. Food and service in lounge was great but overall experience was very odd.
