An exceptional stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed two nights at the Four Seasons in Montreal and our experience was exceptional from start to finish.
From our arrival, we were impressed by the quality of the service: an attentive, professional, and warm team, with that attention to detail that makes all the difference.
Our luxury suite was simply breathtaking: magnificent, spacious, elegant, and absolutely comfortable. Everything was impeccable.
We sincerely loved our stay. The hotel is superb, the atmosphere is refined, and its location is ideal for fully enjoying Montreal.
A memorable experience that we recommend without any hesitation. We are already looking forward to returning!

More Four Seasons Lite than Four Seasons

Small boutique hotel on slightly run down side street near Montreals financial district. Some really excellent staff but for business travellers the hotel is let down by its layout and small but very noticeable house keeping issues. Anyone used to Four Seasons Stateside or in Asia ( or Toronto ) likely to be disappointed. Not bad but unexpectedly more Four Seasons Lite than Four Seasons.
Good points
- Close to RBC and financial district
- Excellent and helpful staff - Neil the concierge and Alex in the bar both mega
- Elevators to check in on 3rd floor and rooms above efficient
- Neighborhood has some good restaurants
- Beds comfortable and aircon best in class
- Shopping mall next door has stylish coffee shop
Bad points
- Pricey at $ 1200 per night
- Entrance hard to find. Look for the empty parking lot opposite
- Lobby chaotic and inefficient. Bellmen when I arrived from LAX were busy.
- Only one informal area for bkfst/lunch/dinner. Informal rather than business vibe.
- Guests looking for Michelin star entertaining will need to go elsewhere
- Limited closet space in rooms. Water pressure in shower low.
- Torn towels and carpets in a 4 Seasons ?

INEPTITUDE

I never like reading reviews when potential guests never actually make it to the hotel for their stay. But the experience with this hotel was so poor, I thought everyone who relies on trip advisor, from well traveled reviewers should know and beware. I planned a 60th birthday trip with my closest friend for his big birthday. I contacted the concierge at the hotel to assist with the details. Frankly, other than a lack of prompt responses and having to contact the hotel on several occasions to see if certain requests were completed, everything eventually was done. Unfortunately, the day before the trip, due to weather issues, Air Canada canceled our flight and could not get us to Montreal until midnight the next day, which would cause the loss of a day and evening in Montreal. Since plans were made through Amex, they called the hotel to see if something could be worked out since the cancellation was unavoidable. The Four Seasons, noted its cancellation policy and said they could not refund the hotel cost for the evening loss. WHILE I WASNT HAPPY ABOUT, that was there policy, so I chalked it up to bad luck. The hotel however assured me that all other events, tours, restaurants, spa appointments would be cancelled at no charge. To make sure of this, I followed up the next morning. Again, the gentleman at the front desk assured that not only did he speak to the concierge but that the manager of the hotel was aware of the situation and, everything would be taken care of. The next day, my friend got a message from the spa at the four season wondering where he was. I called the hotel, they apologized for the error. About a week later I got charged for the tour I was told was cancelled at no charge. When I called about this, I was told I must have been charged in error and it would be taken care of. I called the tour company, when I was not refunded, I was told the four seasons authorized them to charge for the missed tour. When I followed up again with the four seasons, a second and then a third time on this issue, I was finally advised that what I was told originally was incorrect, that the tour could not be cancelled without charge because of its cancellation policy. AGAIN, I would have had no problem with this, if the staff at the four seasons had gotten it right, prior to multiple calls, incorrect information, and finding out of their mistake, by seeing a charge a week later on my Amex. Finally, two weeks later, I got charged for the “cancelled” spa appointments. I called the hotel. More apologies. I called Amex, they got the charges reversed. I received an apology email from the spa for the mix up. BUT here is the kicker, earlier that day I received a survey on how my spa service was THAT day. I obviously wasn’t at the four seasons spa that day, but somehow my Amex was charged for what appears to be services to someone that day. While I have no idea whether this was a continued botch up or if someone actually used my card information on file at their facility, I will never know.
Needless to say, this is the worst service I have ever received from any hotel. I imagine an econo lodge would have done better… wouldn’t have been difficult. To end, each and every time I had to call this hotel after their blunder, I was always spoken to politely and apologetically. The gentleman at the front desk got to know me very well and always noted that the service, or lack thereof, was inexcusable, but they continued over and over again to get it wrong. IS THIS WHAT ANYONE WOULD EXPECT FROM ANY HOTEL? Well I guess that’s what you get from the Four Seasons Montreal. Decide for yourself, if that’s the experience you want to have from a “top notch” hotel.

A perfect room, but a very disappointing service

Our stay at the Four Seasons Montreal leaves us with a rather mixed impression.
The room was perfect: very elegant, perfectly quiet and with that sublime bedding that one usually finds in Four Seasons. You can really rest there in absolute silence. The bathroom is also superb, spacious and particularly well-executed.
On the other hand, we were very disappointed by the quality of the service, which clearly did not correspond, during our stay, to the level expected in an establishment of this category. Upon our arrival, after the handover of the keys, no explanation on how to reach our room and very little information on the various services and facilities of the hotel. We had to discover the establishment on our own.
This impression was unfortunately confirmed when we asked the concierge to book us a table at a restaurant in town. The person who assisted us assured us that the reservation had indeed been made. Once we arrived at the restaurant, no reservation existed under our name. Fortunately, the restaurant staff still managed to find us a table. This type of malfunction is particularly surprising for a Four Seasons concierge service and unfortunately illustrates the lack of rigor we felt during our stay.
The hotel restaurant also seemed quite noisy to us, which contrasts with the remarkable quietness of the rooms. Finally, the advertised "terrace" disappointed us: it is more of a kind of indoor veranda than a real outdoor terrace.
In the end, a very beautiful hotel, with remarkable rooms, bathrooms, and bedding, but service that is unfortunately far below what we expect from a Four Seasons.

Not the luxury that needs to come with the brand

The hotel staff is doing a very good job, particularly the concierge team. The check-in and check-out experience was excellent, as was the communication prior to our arrival. Our preferences were recognized and remembered, and from a service perspective, we experienced the personalized attention expected from a luxury brand.
Unfortunately, the property itself is a completely different story and was very disappointing.
The rooms feel extremely basic and empty, closer in appearance and finishing to a 2–3-star European hotel than to a property carrying a luxury brand name. There is little more than painted walls, beds and a small counter. They did not even invest in a proper full headboard or sufficient detailing that could have added some sense of warmth and luxury.
The bathrooms follow the same approach, with basic sanitary ware, inexpensive-looking materials and poor-quality finishing. The public areas were equally surprising. Even the elevators have very cheap-looking ceramic tiles, poorly executed grout and simply painted walls, creating an atmosphere more reminiscent of a basic public building than a luxury hotel.
It appears that the property underwent a retrofit where costs were cut at almost every possible corner. Even within those limitations, the design is very hit-and-miss and lacks the refinement, materials and attention to detail expected at this level.
This creates a significant disconnect: we received the signature service, but without the visual experience, quality or feeling of luxury that should accompany it.
The staff deserves recognition for delivering such good service despite a physical product that simply does not match the positioning or expectations of the brand. Overall, very disappointing.
