Family reunion
We had an absolutely wonderful experience celebrating our son’s Bar Mitzvah at Hotel William Gray. The rooftop setting was spectacular, with beautiful views of Old Montreal, and it created the perfect atmosphere for such an important family celebration. The food, service, and attention to detail were all exceptional, and the entire event felt elegant, warm, and truly special.
A very special thank-you to Nabila, our coordinator, who was organized, attentive, reassuring, and genuinely invested in making the Bar Mitzvah a success. She helped everything run smoothly and allowed us to relax and enjoy this unforgettable milestone with our family and friends.
We would also like to recognize Eddy and Diego at the entrance. They were consistently warm, welcoming, and helpful, making our family and guests feel well cared for from the moment they arrived.
The entire William Gray team exceeded our expectations and helped create beautiful memories that our family will always cherish. We could not have chosen a better venue for Ronen’s Bar Mitzvah and would wholeheartedly recommend Hotel William Gray for any special celebration.

Conference hosted at Hotel William Gray
We hosted a conference at Hotel William Gray in Old Montreal this summer. The hospitality at the hotel and catering for our meals throughout the three day event were excellent. All the staff we worked with were very helpful. The views of Old Montreal from the terrasse on the eight floor of the hotel were also spectacular.

Great location

Great place and amazing staff
I’ve always had great experience at William Gray! The hotel is centrally located, rooms are clean, well kept. The highlight of my stay has always been the staff! Everyone is courteous, very thoughtful and made my stay amazing. Shout out to Eddy who helped me check in early on an exceptionally busy day. I would highly recommend staying here.

Mediocre stay, would not recommend
Similar to other reviewers, I had booked through Amex Travel as this was part of their hotel collection. When we had done this in the past we had a phenomenal experience and great treatment, however, compared to the price we paid, the experience was severely lacking.
The good:
The price is definitely for the location, which is perfect in the middle of Old Town. The rooftop was also very nice, even though it was a rainy weekedn we enjoyed going up there, however resevations were difficult to come by. The cleanliness of the common areas was good as well.
The bad:
I agree with other reviewers in that the front desk did come off snobby and rude. No additional Amex perks were offered, so do not expect any upgrades or benefits.
It took them 2 hours to bring our bags up to our room, which only came after we finally went down as we wanted to leave and asked the front desk again. When we rerturned all of our luggage was lying on the floor right where we entered, hanging items included.
The amenities were lacking as far as soaps and shower gels. Very mainstream, nothing special. The bed and pillow comfort was also fine, nothing phenomenal. The pillows smelled new, which was great in that they were hopefully new, but not so great in that they had that very strong feather smell, you get used to it after a while but felt very potent.
We found a burgundy stain on the white sheets upon arrival and they were immediately changed, which was appreciated. So cleanliness was pretty okay overall. The rooms themselves are tiny, with only a small chair to sit in outside of the bed. Similarly the bathroom was equally small and the shower grout dated and a bit grimy.
The restaurant service at both restaurants was also very mediocre. In the main lobby area, we ordered a tea and soda at night and the server came over 3 times letting us know he had not forgotten about us, eventually we left. The service at the outdoor restaurant was similar in that it seemed as though our server forgot about us, eventually it started raining and we moved inside to the bar, but just a bit odd and unwelcoming overall.
Ultimately, we would not stay here again as there are other hotels in the area with much better amenities, larger rooms, and kinder service. If the price was lower we would consider because of the location, however barring that, not worth it.
