Alistair was very accommodating with early check-in. He was very welcoming the following day when we arrived. Breakfast area was fresh food, very clean and relaxing atmosphere. Would stay here again.

Cheerful and clean ..great hotel

We recently stayed at the Tru for one night to visit a friend on our drive back to Toronto from Montreal. We were pleasantly surprised. As mentioned it is a relatively new hotel with a cheerful kind of retro vibe. Lots of primary colours. The front desk is surrounded by sundry item you can buy ..like a corner store. Chocolate, candy, drinks, even beer and wine. Nearby there is a pool table and a fuzzball table. There is also complimentary coffee which is there all day….my only complaint is that they have coffee but take away the tea after breakfast…and I’m a tea drinker. This is also the area where breakfast is served and there are tables to eat at spread out over the first floor. There was also a sun room you can eat in but I suspect that might be better in the summer. Breakfast was the usual Hilton do it yourself buffet but I must say the bacon and sausage were better than a lot of places I’ve gone. The pancake machine looked fun..you wave your hand and it makes pancakes on a conveyer belt..but I didn’t try it. There was a pool and a gym ..both looked very clean and all the equipment is new. They also had boards up by the elevators giving you names of local restaurants and bars and things to do..just a nice touch.
The rooms were on the small side but had everything you need. Beds were comfortable and so were the pillows. The shower was great. Big walk in with good pressure and hot water. Loved the soaps and conditioners and body cream ..they were in squeeze bottles and were quite funny if you read them. Again everything was bright primary colours and still very new.
The staff were really wonderful…the front desk people were helpful and kept asking if we needed anything. When I ask when was check out they said 11 but did that work for us or would we like a late check out…we checked out at 11.30 and really appreciated being asked first. The hotel wasn’t full ..it is Jan after all …so it was probably easy to accommodate us ..but it was the asking that was really nice. I also thought the “welcome Oona” on the tv when we got in our room was cute.
All in all it was really a pleasure staying there and would definitely recommend it.
