Absolutely Superb

What an amazing place. The building itself is very tastefully curated with furniture and art which simultaneously creates an eclectic ambiance and transports you back in time.
You instantly feel at home here.
The hosts are very welcoming and encourage guests to mingle.
Rooms very comfortable and well appointed.
The continental breakfast is worth every penny as much for the food as the surroundings and chat with fellow diners.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to others.

If you want to stay somewhere different then the Scotsman Inn is the place for you. The property is furnished with antique furniture, quality bed linen and toiletries. If you are lucky you get to share a glass of wine with the hosts who have a wealth of information that they are happy to share. This is a unique comfortable inn. Just remembered to pack light for your stay, there is no lifts and lots of stairs.

Well, where to start? This is a gorgeously restored historic inn, with lovely furniture and comfortable beds. The hosts are....well, characters. They do their business their way and don't apologize for it. Some would say this impinges on the guest perception of customer service. Our experience was mixed. For example, after a 6-hour drive, tired and needing a restroom, we arrived and approached the back of the building where someone yelled out the ground-level door, "We're not open yet!" and slammed the door quite hard. We were shocked. We took a walk and when we came back by another entrance to check in, the hosts brushed off our experience, neither apologizing or saying they'd look into it. Later we received dark looks for eating take-out on the patio. The rooms are small and could use more places to put your things (instead of too many ornaments). There was no closet at all in my room. And the showers are tiny, though the owner says that they meet code even if the clients don't....

Sandy and Kathy were great hosts. A very warm welcome with a glass of wine on the porch with the owners and other guests. It was like staying at a friend’s house. The building is fantastic, with old world charm. and elegant furnishings. This place is a destination unto itself. I will definitely be back and spend more time

Specifically

A peculiar accommodation: centrally located (everything important reachable in 0-5 min on foot), but without an elevator and with partly steep stairs. So pack what you need in a backpack! Not so recommendable for older people.
The hotel is full of trinkets, and when a family arrived at the same time as us, the owners were slightly horrified... so not for families.
The elderly couple who own the Scotsman are very keen to keep noise and dirt out.
The king beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms small. There are no televisions, but there are many books and a chess set.
Breakfast is served by the host in a kilt (muesli and croissants), and you are expected to finish the muesli before you get the croissant. I felt transported back to dark times. There is coffee or tea, no hot chocolate (children unwelcome).
The crowning glory: in addition to many snow-white towels, there is a black one for "stains that don't come out of the white ones"... and you are supposed to wipe your bottom with that, thinking about who might have done so before? Perhaps the hostess should try the hot wash cycle sometime!
Conclusion: suitable for fit people who love an authoritarian manner and cause neither noise nor dirt.
